Cleveland Browns Draft 21-YO While Taking a Dump Amid Shedeur Sanders-Dillon Gabriel Buzz

5 min read

The NFL Draft has a way of revealing just how human even the game’s future stars can be. In 2020, CeeDee Lamb made headlines when he instinctively snatched his phone away from his girlfriend mid-call, a reminder that even draft night doesn’t come with a script. AJ Brown, meanwhile, celebrated his selection by Tennessee while still wearing his full Ole Miss jersey and helmet. DK Metcalf, after slipping later into the second round than expected, answered Seattle’s call through tears, asking simply, “Why y’all wait so long?”

This year, Quinshon Judkins added his own chapter to that tradition. Even though he was fully aware of the gravity of the situation, he found himself in one of those genuine human situations that nobody can predict. The Cleveland Browns selected Judkins as the 36th overall pick in the second round, but not without a bit of chaos. His draft party was excited, anticipating that momentous phone call, and the Browns were calling to congratulate him. There was only one issue, though: Quinshon wasn’t present. He was taking care of business in the bathroom.

The master of dry wit, Mike Greenberg, was compelled to comment on the chaos. Greenberg said,His phone rang while he was out of the room, so you see, members of his draft party are there. The Browns are calling to select him, but he’s not in the room. When nature calls, sometimes that beats out when the Browns call,” Who could blame him, really? Fans could instantly relate to that situation. Judkins’ pain would resonate with anyone who has ever been rushing to answer a crucial call while taking a brief break.

The camera moves over the scene as the phone rings, the Browns’ call sounds like a lifeline, and his family rushes to bring him back into the room as fear sets in. “Quinshon! Quinshon!” they yell in excitement. He finally dashes in to answer the phone, just in time to hear the news. Reportedly, Judkins later explained to reporters that he had just stepped out of the room for a cup of lemonade when the Browns called. Well, lemonade or not, Judkins’ draft story has definitely become a viral sensation.

With nearly 1,500 running yards and 16 touchdowns for Ole Miss in 2023, Judkins was a dominant force in collegiate football. He was considered one of the best running back prospects in this year’s draft because of his ability to push past defences, vision, and elusiveness. He is a dynamic weapon the Browns could use right away in a number of ways.

But hold on, the story doesn’t end here. Quinshon Judkins’ restroom drama is just one aspect of the chaos that occurs on draft day. There’s more to that, particularly when you include the Shedeur Sanders vs. Dillon Gabriel controversy. To put it mildly, Browns fans are not thrilled.

Quinshon Judkins has his moment, while Sanders and Gabriel spark draft drama

The Cleveland Browns’ pick that left fans perplexed was the beginning of it all. The Browns selected Dillon Gabriel, a 5’11” Hawaiian who skipped around a few schools before settling in Oklahoma, against everyone’s expectation that they would select Shedeur Sanders, the QB sensation from Colorado.

Reactions on X erupted as soon as the pick was announced. The fans were furious. How did they choose Gabriel instead of Sanders? How could they let go of a player who might be the NFL’s future? During the commotion, Ben Axelrod tweeted, “The Dillon Gabriel pick feels like one that fans (like me) will be throwing back in this Browns front office’s face as long as it’s here.” Naturally, the Cleveland fans then began to vent their frustrations about it. “What did Shedeur do?” one fan asked. Someone else added: “Why is this not Shedeur? Get out with this pick.”

And Dillon Gabriel’s response to all of this. You see, he went ahead and wrote the two-word message on X after the draft, “Ballers Ball #DawgPound.” Plus, he went all out in his first interview following his draft selection, declaring, “I’m excited for what’s to come.” So, he has the opportunity to prove everyone wrong. Despite being in the same quarterback room as Joe Flacco and a Super Bowl MVP, he isn’t scared. He’s ready to show up and show out.

Fans aren’t convinced, though. The Browns are standing by their choice, but the question still stands: Did they really pass up Shedeur Sanders, the NFL’s next superstar, for Dillon Gabriel? Only time will tell if Gabriel can prove them right. Whether they’re missing out on one of the game’s most attractive prospects or drafting Quinshon Judkins while using the bathroom, Cleveland fans will be there, as always, to hold the front staff responsible for every decision.
