Saints Ditch Shedeur Sanders Again & Reunite 7,820-YD QB With Ex-Oregon Teammate

The New Orleans Saints made another move, and guess what? It’s wild! With Derek Carr possibly missing a chunk of the season due to his shoulder injury, they were rumored to be looking at QB prospects in the draft. Now they’ve got one… but it’s not the name everyone expected. The 2025 NFL Draft has begun on Day 2, and still, Shedeur Sanders’ NFL future is hanging on a thin thread.

Yes! With the No. 40 overall pick in the draft, the Saints have selected Tyler Shough. For context, as per NFL Rumors, “#Saints rookie QB Tyler Shough played with TE Juwan Johnson at Oregon and is now reunited with him. Juwan Johnson is entering his 6th year in the NFL.

This 25-year-old rookie quarterback is 2nd all-time in yards per game passing (266.3) in college football. In 2024, he threw for 3,195 yards and 23 touchdowns, and in total, across his college career, he had around 7,820 yards of aerial coverage. That’s impressive! But what’s worrying is, Shedeur Sanders is still on the bridge, unable to move in a direction, waiting for a team to draft him.

With the No. 40 overall pick in the 2025 @NFLDraft, the @Saints select Tyler Shough.
