Shedeur Sanders’ Disrespect Forces Donald Trump to Step In With ‘Immediate’ Ultimatum to 32 NFL Teams

5 min read

The first day of the 2025 NFL Draft had it all. Trades, surprising picks, teams not doing what all analysts predicted, and some names still on the board as we go into the second day. Michigan CB Will Johnson’s recurring injury concerns meant that his stock kept falling, with teams unwilling to take a risk and pay him the top dollar that a first-round pick gets. Then, there were quarterbacks who were suited for the day, but their names never came up. One of them, and perhaps the story of the day, is, of course, Shedeur Sanders. What happened? A lot, really! Let’s recap a bit.

When the 2024 college football season got over, and programs were done with their bowl games, two QBs were on top of every mock draft in January. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. Both predicted to be among the top 5 picks. On April 24, Cam was picked with the No. 1 pick by the Titans. Shedeur? Initially, some analysts predicted that the Giants would take him with the No. 3 pick. But they went with Abdul Carter. The Saints also used their pick on a non-QB position. There was hope from the Steelers with their No. 21 pick. Same result.

So, when the Giants traded up with the Cowboys to get the 25th pick in the first round, everyone expected that they would draft a QB. The QB was widely touted as Shedeur Sanders. But they pulled a rabbit out of their hat and came up with another name: Jaxson Dart. Then, gradually, the 32nd pick came, and Shedeur’s name was never taken. Shedeur kept waiting, and as the night rolled on, the wait continued. What went wrong? Issues in the film? Probably. Attitude issues? That has been the narrative, thanks to anonymous sources who didn’t like how Shedeur behaved in his Combine interviews. Still, the overwhelming emotion is of surprise that he didn’t get picked in the first round. The most influential person in the US was as surprised as we were. Now, President Donald Trump might be stepping in to resolve Shedeur Sanders’ problems.

In an X post, President Donald Trump berated all 32 NFL franchises and called them stupid for not drafting Shedeur. “What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID? Deion Sanders was a great college football player and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for greatness. He should be ‘picked’ immediately by a team that wants to win. Good luck, Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”.

Well, if teams heed the President’s appeal or not, only time will tell. But, Shedeur getting undrafted is undoubtedly going to sting the analysts for some time. The QB passed for more than 4,000 yards last year at an incredible efficiency of 72%. This is something unmatched for any QB this year, not even Jaxson Dart. Moreover, the understanding of the defenses that Sanders shows is something of a bonus, as he ranks fifth-lowest in uncatchable throws in the FBS. His deep ball coverage is also top-notch, which gave him a 94.8 PFF grade in 20-yard-plus throws. Maybe we would see a taker for the QB in the second round for sure, right?

Shedeur Sanders going to the Cleveland Browns?

Well, now that Shedeur Sanders is finally gearing up for the second round. This begs the question, which team looks like dating the player in the second round? Well, the three teams mentioned earlier might not be drafting a QB now as they passed on Shedeur in the first round, and the Giants drafted Jaxson Dart. But, the Cleveland Browns are one of the teams that can draft Shedeur in the second round as part of their “offensive trio“.

The NFL recently shared some potential players getting picked in the second round, and Shedeur is listed as 67th, going to the Cleveland Browns. The Athletic also recently picked Sanders, getting drafted in the second round by the Browns. “If Cleveland can use the extra picks it acquired Thursday to fortify its rebuild and give Sanders time to grow, this could be a great fit”.

The Browns traded their 2nd pick in the draft with the Jaguars for their fourth-round and sixth-round pick. So, Browns with these extra picks can easily draft Shedeur and even then draft other players they would need. The Browns are currently in need of some good rookie wide receivers and a cornerback on defense.
