Imagine being a professional MMA fighter and making use of all the world-class training equipment in the top gyms around the world. Recipe of success, right? Well, think again! Because Jiri Prochazka’s legend is based on the very definition of uncanny. From striking trees to isolating himself in a dark room with no food or water, the former 205lbs champ’s routine has always been both cruel and weird.
Back in July 2024, to aid his punching power, Prochazka punched a makiwara, a conditioning tool consisting of a padded piece of wood. When he wasn’t using the makiwara, Prochazka was found punching trees in the same fashion, and that too up to 500 times a day. The former champ even tried out training while being blindfolded. He even posted a philosophical bit on his X account and wrote, “Where there is a will, there is a way. There is a huge potential for this type of training, using all of the senses to have the sharpest weapons. But the correct way of this training is essential, like everywhere. Believe what you’re doing, absolutely. Time to evolve.”
Just a usual day in the life of Prochazka! But as he awaits his next Octagon appearance, the ‘Czech Samurai’ decided to take a more traditional approach. This time, he opted to spar in the gym. Still, even that looked anything but ordinary. “Jiri Prochazka is the last guy you want to spar with,” posted Home of Fight alongside a video clip of the intense session.
He was invited to train with MMA fighter Oliver Enkamp and his brother Jesse Enkamp, a renowned karate instructor with millions of YouTube subscribers. Oliver sparred with the former champ, blending their unique styles in an exciting crossover that thrilled fans across both the MMA and karate communities. However, the session didn’t exactly look like a sparring session. It was intense and ruthless, with Jiri going forward and catching Oliver on the chin thrice. At one point, he even started using elbows! Moreover, with Jesse giving the background voice to the video, the session concluded when Prochazka landed a nasty knee in the solar plex, which prompted Oliver to go down. Let’s see what the MMA fandom had to say!
Fans reacted to Jiri Prochazka’s sparring against the Swedish karate and MMA star
A recent training video featuring Jiri Prochazka sparring with the Enkamp brothers has grabbed fans’ attention—and for good reason. The video showed Oliver and Prochazka fighting it out in the gym. After clearly struggling on his feet, he tried to blend some wrestling, but in vain. Prochazka began dominating him from the outside before closing the distance and giving a devastating knee that brought an end to their spar.
One fan said, “Dude screwed up kneeing him in the face during sparring with no pads. All respect, but Jiri got that knee back immediately haha.”
Fans chimed in with more praise: “Jiri is such a respectable fighter man,” and “Jiri is so good at setting up shots using takedown feints.” Another fan said, “That’s not a karate influencer, but his brother. MMA fighter who fought in UFC twice.”
Another netizen said, “It’s crazy, he was landing at 30% the whole time lol. He’s got some power man” One follower pointed out, “Oliver is a former Bellator fighter so he is not a karate influencer.” Enkamp is a Swedish MMA star with a pro record of 11-4, famous for his grappling abilities, with most of his wins coming via submission.
Someone else noted, “Jiri was going so light.” And one fan pointed out Prochazka’s bizarre training routines: “First time I have seen Jiri at a gym.”
Naturally, it’s evident why the Enkamp brothers could not stand against him. Between his power, movement, and almost mythical training methods, Jiri is just operating on another level. What do you think about this latest collab? Share your verdict down below.
