Brian Daboll Drawn to Jaxson Dart Traits as National Analyst Warns Giants Against Overlooking Fit

Well, Jaxson Dart has been called “Dark Horse” by Lane Kiffin for a reason. He had the perfect ending to his college football chapter. The quarterback surpassed Eli Manning in the Ole Miss record books with 10,617 yards over Manning’s 10,119 yards. Dart is now Ole Miss’ all-time total offense leader. He even passed former Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace by 139 yards. So, it’s obvious that the NFL suitors are swarming around him. Out of them, Brian Daboll and the New York Giants are said to be ‘high on’ the Ole Miss quarterback. But in case they change their mind last minute, a national analyst comes up with a heads-up, not to remove their focus on the bull’s eye.

The Giants have the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. So, it’s obvious that things might turn in anybody’s favor. Right now, the ones in the line are Shedeur Sanders, Abdul Carter, and Travis Hunter. But Connor Hughes of SNY comes up with some inside news.

He reported that Daboll is high on Dart and grades him higher than all other quarterbacks. The analyst tweeted on April 20, “Sources I touched base with said he’s someone Brian Daboll is high on — most out of QBs other than Cam Ward. Among qualities Daboll values in QBs is toughness. Dart has that.” Things spiced up when Todd McShay shared how Deion Sanders’ “dream team” for his son will be snatched by Dart.

To McShay, Shedeur fitting in Daboll’s scheme did not fit well with his “football sense.” So, he shared, “Jaxson Dart doesn’t drive the ball vertically all that great, but he’s got a little more energy on, like, intermediate throws than Shedeur does.” But again, it’s the NFL Draft, things can go topsy-turvy at any moment. Thus, CBS Sports’ Dan Schneier has raised an alarm beforehand for Daboll.

Schneier tweeted on April 23, first pointing out Dart’s USPs. “Looking back at Jaxson Dart notes from this trio I watched together – A&M, LSU, OU He showed some great timing, trajectory, touch leading WRs down the field and outside the numbers when not pressured but a good portion of those were open by a lot.” But what makes him fit the Giants’ scheme perfectly?

If your Daboll and you draft…

There have been immense deep ball struggles in Daboll’s squad all throughout the last season. Their quarterback, Daniel Jones, has clearly misfired on most of his deep shots, overthrowing on some but mostly falling too short of the mark. But is the quarterback the only one to be blamed? Not at all. It was a result of second-year wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, who has been an invisible man. On the contrary, Dart’s ability to throw deep with touch, placing the ball precisely and layering it between defenders, is particularly impressive. His body of work against SEC opponents, plus the bowl game where Dart even lit up the Blue Devils? 59.28%. In this span, Dart was just 18-of-46 on deep balls.

Thus, the analyst noted in the tweet, “If your Daboll and you draft him, you loved the OU game — EXs in all of big time throws. Also EXs in all of pressure/pocket issues causing all sorts of problems. Prob enough physical traits and EXs of downfield timing/touch/ball placement that I can see Daboll seeing a fit for what he wants to be a  vertically oriented (Russ and Jameis fit).” Meanwhile, the Giants need to buckle up in their Mission Jalen Milroe

The Jaxson Dart NFL hype train is gaining speed

The New York squad seems to be broken up into two halves. Courtesy? Of course goes to the Rebels quarterback Dart. As Todd McShay spilled some scoop. “People in the personnel department, the scouting department that prefer Shedeur. They were actually pushing for Shedeur, maybe at 3. Daboll is not a Shedeur guy, and Daboll prefers Jaxson Dart.” Right now, the NFL programs will think twice before landing the Colorado quarterback. Particularly after Tom Pelissero’s report

As one of the scouts pointed out, “He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates… But the biggest thing is, he’s not that good.” While another AFC quarterback coach did not demean Shedeur, but clearly shared how, if given a chance, Dart will be his first priority. “If I had the No. 1 pick and I had to pick a guy and my job was on the line, I would try to get Jaxson Dart in the conversation.” With this, the Ole Miss quarterback’s hype meter is rising high. That’s when another NFL team showed interest in the First-team All-SEC honors quarterback.

The ESPN NFL Insider, Adam Schefter, dropped a bomb. “I could tell you there seems to be a lot of sentiment out there, right or wrong, that the Saints love Jaxson Dart.” He further added, “There is a belief amongst teams that the Saints love him, the [New York] Giants have an awful lot of ties with Ole Miss ties to Jaxson Dart.”

But for Kellen Moore and the New Orleans Saints, it’s not going to be an easy snag. They are already in a cap situation. All thanks to Derek Carr, who is plagued with injuries. Plus, as New Orleans has the ninth overall pick, they have to trade up to make their Jaxson Dart dreams come true. So, Brian Daboll’s got the edge here; all that’s left is to clear the clutter and lock it in.
