Brittany Mahomes – wife of Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes – once said on an Instagram Q&A, “Life is still moving when you have a kiddo, so obviously they become your main priority, but you can’t just forget about everything else you did before.” She meant it. In January, the couple welcomed their baby daughter and 3rd child, Golden Raye Mahomes. And now, just a few months after the fact, the ‘mama bear’ is back in action.
Brittany is well known for sharing little peeks into the life of an NFL superstar family. From Bronze’s delightful backyard antics to Sterling’s ballet classes, she’s a sharer, and we dig it. But aside from these moments from the Mahomes family, there is another thing she’s passionate about – and that’s her workout routine and her drive to stay in shape. So, when she shared an Instagram story about her working out at the gym, naturally, the world took notice. Why? It’s all about the timing.
Betina Gozo Shimonek – Nike global trainer – shared an Instagram story on April 23rd featuring Brittany Mahomes with a barbell at the gym just three months after having baby Golden. The Caption reads, “Queen B is back under the bar! @brittanylynne” Betina further wrote, “Just 3 months postpartum with baby #3. This kind of progress doesn’t happen overnight – she’s been showing up consistently, often with her little ones along for the ride. Big focus on breathwork, core, and pelvic floor recovery. She put in so much thoughtful, consistent work during pregnancy with @kirstyraefitness in KC, and it’s paying off now in such a powerful way. So proud of her dedication and strength! ” Brittany herself reposted the story, captioning it, “Letsss goooooooo”.
These strengths and drive haven’t developed overnight for Brittany. And Betina is not the only person helping Brittany on her fitness journey. As per reports, during pregnancy she had an intense workout routine to stay in shape and avoid what’s known as ‘mom butt’. Kirsty Rae was her fitness instructor at the time and shared a post featuring Brittany using a cable crossover machine to build strength. She didn’t want her pregnancy to affect her fitness. She had once said, “I always preach that staying consistent in the gym and fueling my body well is what helps me be the best version of myself year-round, not just during swimsuit season!” And this is also evident from the recent beachwear photo dump she did for the bestie Miranda Hogue’s 30th birthday.
While Brittany’s barbells were drawing attention at the gym, Patrick made some interesting revelations about his new look as well. And it’s got everyone smirking and nodding in amusement and agreement.
Patrick’s new look has a story of its own
Looks aren’t everything. But when you’re an NFL star, a QB no less, everything you wear has the chance of becoming a trend. So when Patrick Mahomes ditched his iconic hairstyle after the Super Bowl loss, the reactions were a bit… mixed. While some missed his iconic old Mohawk, others called this new look the ‘Revenge 2.0’. Mahomes had previously hinted he was going to do away with his hair in the Netflix docuseries ‘Quarterback’, where he said, “Hair’s gone next year. – I can’t have two kids and a Mohawk – Imagine being 40 years old with this haircut.” So the plans were all there, and it was just a matter of when to do it. He revealed this hairstyle on Sterling’s 4th birthday.
And now, according to reports, there are some insights from Mahomes as to why he chopped off the Mohawk. Of course, the kids were a big reason, but there is another layer to it. According to Rob Collins, Mahomes says, “I’ve looked at videos from last year and I can’t believe you guys let me keep that nappy hair.” Patrick likes his new look, saying, “I look way better with the short hair.” But why did he chop it all off? Well, there’s some interesting news about this on X. Jason Anderson has shared a tweet that goes, “Patrick Mahomes said his haircut was based on superstition. Wanted to cut his hair the last couple of years, but kept winning Super Bowls, so he didn’t want to jinx it. Lost to Philly, and the hair is gone. Makes sense.
Call it superstitions or rituals or whatever you want, if it works, why would you want to jinx it? We all have that one lucky cushion, protection blanket, or magic pen that gets us through any trouble that life throws our way. So why not a star QB? Patrick, we get it. You do you, hair or no hair, break the curse of the old Mohawk and shine on the gridiron this season?
