Knock knock, fight fans—wake up! Conor McGregor is stirring the pot once again, and this time, he’s got Tucker Carlson by his side. ‘Mystic Mac’ and Carlson just dropped a bombshell episode, and amid the fiery exchange, McGregor took direct aim at the Irish Parliament, slamming its ministers for their incompetence. At the same time, he heaped praise on his friend across the pond—Donald Trump—for surrounding himself with what McGregor called “proper ministers.”
Conor McGregor has been on a crusade to cleanse his country of the supposed incompetence in the Irish political system. Well, at least that’s what ‘Mystic Mac’ thinks. The former dual weight champion has been called out by many fighters for an ultimate clash, but the only fight ‘Mystic Mac’ wants to fight right now is not inside the Octagon, but rather in the upcoming elections. After stepping out of the fighting and business world, the former UFC champion is looking to make a name for himself in the political world, and in his crusade, Donald Trump has been a helping hand.
While speaking with Tucker Carlson on his show, Conor McGregor called out the entire Irish Parliament. He stated that the Health Minister has nothing to do with health, the Education Minister is not a teacher, and so on. He further emphasized that Donald Trump has cracked the code when it comes to choosing better ministers to represent the nation, “I can see with the selections of the Trump administration that we look upon, which has been 24/7 — walk, work, walk. From my vantage point, you know, Trump — a businessman — he’s running it more like a business and with common sense,” said Conor McGregor.
He further added, “That is where I would see it, more so than these politicians, where they’re all in this clique and it’s a party. They are working on behalf of the party and not the people. They are working to curry favor within the party to rise up the ranks, and then the heads of the party are working to curry favor on the people above them — again, to rise up another rank. It just does not serve the country, and that is it. I’m simply highlighting it, putting it out to the people. If they wish for me to run, whatever my nation wants — I’m here for that.”

The fighter was invited by POTUS to the White House on St. Patrick’s Day, where the 36-year-old complained about Ireland’s “illegal immigration racket.” His statements were called out by the prime minister, Michael Martin, who ascertained that McGregor doesn’t speak for the nation. Conor McGregor met with Donald Trump and several of his ministers, engaging in discussions about politics and other topics.
The former UFC champion has been at odds with the current Irish regime for quite some time and now seeks to gain some control over the country’s political landscape. But is he truly qualified to be the next President of Ireland? A political analyst has stepped forward to weigh in.
Conor McGregor’s presidential move faces a roadblock
“As President I hold the power to summon the Dáil as well as dissolve it. So as i said before, I would have all the answers the people of Ireland seek from these thieves of the working man, these disrupters of the family unit, these destructors of small businesses, and on and on and on,” wrote Conor McGregor on his X last year, attacking the political scene of Ireland. Since then, the former dual-weight champion has been climbing the ladder—at least by building connections with the most powerful force on Earth.
Conor McGregor does have the backing of some prominent names such as Elon Musk, Andrew Tate, and Donald Trump, but can he disrupt the Irish political scene? According to Gail McElroy, a professor of political science at Trinity College Dublin, McGregor has a zero chance of becoming the president of Ireland.
She further added, “There’s two hurdles. First, you have to get nominated and then you have to win a majority of the vote. Both of those hurdles are almost insurmountable [for McGregor], There’s a lot of [Oireachtas members] – 60 senators and 174 TDs [Irish MPs], but most of those are party affiliated and they won’t nominate [McGregor] You’re talking about different types of characters, you know Mary Davis, who runs the Special Olympics [who ran for president in 2011]. It’s likeable candidates who county councils feel should have the option to run. Conor McGregor is toxic in Ireland. I think it’s almost inconceivable that four county councils would endorse him.”
Conor McGregor’s views are his own, at least that’s what the Irish ruling party believes, and it would be difficult for him to make a name for himself in that political spectrum. His fall from grace in the media does not help his case either. Given that, what are your thoughts on Conor McGregor’s political move? State your opinion in the comments below.
