Ryan Garcia’s Old Demons Resurface Weeks Before Return, Leaving Devin Haney on Edge

Ryan Garcia has made massive accusations against the Devin Haney team. This comes ahead of the triple-header boxing event on May 2nd involving him, Haney, and Teofimo Lopez at Times Square in New York. However, the question is, how did all this begin?

Back in April last year, ‘King Ry’ and Haney locked horns in New York, which saw a dramatic fight unfold. Despite overwhelming odds, Garcia emerged victorious via majority decision. However, his celebrations came to a screeching halt when VADA revealed that the Victorville native had tested positive for the banned substance Ostarine. This was followed by Garcia’s one-year suspension from the sport and Haney’s lawsuit against Garcia. While both parties have agreed to a potential rematch in October to get rid of the lawsuit, Garcia seems to have brought back all the drama with serious accusations against Team Haney.

Ahead of their respective fights, Garcia and Haney appeared in an interview with The Ring’s triple-header roundtable interview. As all six boxers traded barbs, Todd Grisham, the host of the show, pressed Garcia about his thoughts on their last fight and how the outcome affected him. “I feel like I won the fight no matter what,” Garcia said.

“I think that I was set up in case they lost,” Garcia said about his positive Ostarine test results. “That’s how I truly feel.” However, he added that what really bothered him was “how [Devin Haney’s] brother knew that I was going to test positive.” It’s worth noting that after the fight, Haney’s younger brother predicted that Garcia would test positive for a banned substance.

In a previous interview, Haney’s brother had revealed that he had a dream about where he saw Garcia test positive for a banned substance. Devin Haney seems to support the same theory, as he told Garcia during the interview, “He had a dream.” However, Garcia wasn’t buying it as he questioned why nobody wants to answer that question.

In the meantime, Garcia has been rather calm in the build-up to his next fight against Rolly Romero, unlike the alcoholic rambling during the Haney fight last year. And there seems to be a reason behind it.

Ryan Garcia has returned to real life after the Devin Haney fight

Ryan Garcia has returned to real life following the chaos of his fight with Devin Haney—and he looks more focused than ever. After a year-long suspension and personal setbacks, Garcia is stepping back into the ring with a calmer, clearer mindset. “Taking a step back from [social media], getting back to reality, hanging out with my family… you feel a sense of reality getting back into your system,” Garcia said.

The frantic energy that defined his last camp has given way to discipline and maturity. “I kind of got bored with the social-media stuff,” he admitted. Now preparing to face Rolly Romero on May 2, Garcia is determined to show the world what he’s truly capable of without distractions. “I’ll still be posting, of course, but not as deliberate as I was.”

That said, even though almost a year has passed since their last fight, Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney seem to be holding on to theories for why things ended the way they did. Only a rematch can settle the debate, but they will have to get past their current opponents to make it happen. What are your thoughts on Garcia’s allegations?
