Dodgers get Brutally Trolled after Conflicting Decision Putting 26-YO Struggling Star on Pedestral

4 min read

The Los Angeles Dodgers might have escaped with an 8–7 win over the Colorado Rockies, but that’s not what fans are talking about. Instead, all eyes are on the team’s controversial decision to option 26-year-old pitcher Bobby Miller—a move that has stirred up frustration, confusion, and even trolling across social media.

So what exactly caused the stir?

A debut can set the tone for a player’s future…or break it apart. Unfortunately for Miller, it was the latter. Coming off a delayed start to 2025 due to a spring training head injury, the right-hander finally made his first appearance of the season… and it went downhill fast. He gave up six runs in just three innings, including a grand slam by Michael Toglia. He looked out of sync and off rhythm. His ERA ballooned to 8.52, and the Dodgers didn’t wait long.

Shortly after the game, the team posted on X: “The Dodgers optioned RHP Bobby Miller.”

And just like that, Bobby Miller was sent down to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Despite the rough outing, many fans weren’t convinced this was the right call, especially for someone who had a promising 2023 season, finishing 11–4 with a 3.76 ERA and a 3.51 FIP. The move, seen as sudden and harsh, sparked a flood of emotional reactions online.

Dodgers’ harsh decision on 26-YO leaves fans angry

Right after the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Bobby Miller got optioned to the Triple-A Oklahoma City, social media turned against the Dodgers.

One of the fans questioned the Dodgers’ farm system because something similar happened earlier, too. “Dodgers farm system can’t develop prospects anymore??? Every one of them has been a bust recently: Vargas, Pages, Miller, Knack, Grove, Stone, Outman – the list goes on. I remember when our prospects were actually good.” Names like Miguel Vargas and Michael Grove haven’t quite stuck in the big leagues despite all the hype, and with Miller now joining that list, especially after being one of the most promising young arms in 2023, the concern is real: is the Dodgers’ once-golden farm system losing its edge?

Then came the humor, though it was laced with criticism. A parody account called FAX Sports posted, “Once again, you’re late. Dodgers accidentally option Bobby Miller instead of Dave Roberts.” While clearly tongue-in-cheek, the jab reflects the brewing dissatisfaction with how manager Dave Roberts has handled the team’s young talent, particularly the pitching staff. With several young arms shuffled up and down the system and little stability in the rotation, no wonder fans are questioning like this.

Another user came up with a sensible response: “Fight through this, Bobby! He’s young and battling. Go to work and come back stronger. Can’t believe the haters, so-called fans. SMH.” A little bit of motivation—we all expect it, don’t we? Bobby Miller had a good 2023 season as he went 11-4 with a 3.76 ERA and 3.51 FIP; however, the injuries cost him big time. And guess what? His struggles were reflected when he was called up to the majors.

Another fan took a more measured approach, writing, “He needs to keep working down there and building confidence. Hope you guys don’t give up on him and he can work his way into his potential.” Sending Miller to Triple-A gives him a lower-pressure environment to refine his mechanics and regain control over his fastball, which lacked command in his brief outing. Considering his 2023 breakout came after just a handful of minor league starts, he’s still relatively raw. This stint could be crucial for long-term growth.

However, then a quirky response came: “Sorry, but does this mean he is back in the minors or does this mean he is off the team for good? This raises a lot of speculation surrounding Bobby Miller’s presence on the team. So, is it time up for him? Will he be back in the minors, or may the Dodgers just let him go, given the poor performance he delivered?
