A few months ago, after a challenging and arguably the worst couple of seasons of his career, Aaron Rodgers decided to fly across the country to talk with the Jets’ new regime. Why? To find out if there’s any possibility of him playing one more season in New York. No media circus, no fancy welcome — just him walking into the facility hoping for a grown-up conversation. But instead of diving into plans or picking his brain, the vibe shifted fast.
A short talk, some awkward energy, and suddenly, Rodgers got the message loud and clear: the Jets were moving on. Just like that. Fast forward to now, and the 41-year-old reportedly explained his conversation with the Jets’ head coach, Aaron Glenn, and general manager, Darren Mougey. What went down during the meeting?
According to NYJ Matt, Rodgers flew across the country on his own dime just to have a chat. Starts talking with Aaron Glenn, then boom—Glenn just runs out of the room. Comes back with Mougey, says they’re moving in a different direction and wants to talk about “messaging.” Rodgers hits him with a “don’t care about the messaging,” and then he and Glenn go back and forth like, “if I was still here, would it be me or Glenn?”
The Aaron Rodgers explanation of the meeting with the Jets
-Flew across the country on “his own dime” hoping to have a conversation
-Start talking with Aaron Glenn then he “ran out of the room”
-Comes back with Mougey lets him know they are moving in a different direction…
