DeMarvion Overshown Puts 31 NFL Franchises on Notice After Once in a Lifetime Cowboys Achievement

3 min read

It was the week 14 game against the Bengals in the 2024 season. The Cowboys camp was shocked! Medical staffers helped LB DeMarvion Overshown go to the medical room. When the reporters wanted to know about his condition, almost everyone on the team was emotional. The linebacker Micah Parsons called Overshown his “lil bro” and prayed for his timely return. America’s Team had always supported their 3rd round pick (90th overall) in the 2023 draft. He missed the entire 2023 season with an ACL injury. But things changed in 2024.

His presence was felt in the camp as he helped trounce the rival O-lines. As we have the numbers now, the linebacker became the Cowboys’ hero. He is one of the 5 players who had 90+ tackles and 5 sacks in 2024. The astonishing fact is that he did this in only 12 games! In 13 games (12 starters) last year, DeMarvion Overshown recorded 1 interception, 4 defended passes, 1 forced fumble, 5 sacks, and 90 tackles (56 tackles).

When Kay Adams congratulated him on the April 16 episode of Up & Adams Show, the linebacker replied, “Definitely, a good list to be part of. And the fact that you said, yeah, doing it in 12 games, you know, I think that just shows when I say like, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Like we ain’t seen nothing yet. That was rookie year coming off an ACL.” It’s a clear warning to the 31 NFL teams.

The linebacker won his team’s trust with his hard work and tenacity. He didn’t show any rustiness while coming off the ACL injury in his rookie season. Last year, he repaid their faith. There’s a long way to go, as he added, “I am nowhere near where I am going to be.” His team and the sport will extend support to him.

A rule change in the NFL will motivate him to work extra hard in recovery. He is still waiting for MCL, ACL, and PCL injuries to heal. Yet, the change in his jersey number will bring up memories from the past.

DeMarvion Overshown is excited to wear jersey number 0

Even during his college days at Texas, the linebacker wore jersey number zero. It made him popular among the fans who gave him the nickname ‘Agent Zero.’ Until a few years ago, it was not possible for anyone to wear this number except the offensive and defensive linemen. But the year when he entered the league, in 2023, the NFL altered the rule. Yet the Cowboys didn’t allow any player to wear it until this year.

DeMarvion Overshown was over the moon when the franchise gave him the number zero. He had number 35 in 2023 and wore number 13 last year. He also claimed that he knew this achievement was coming to him and mentioned, “To say I’m the first to wear No. 0 at Texas and the first to do it in Dallas Cowboys’ history, that’s a badge of honor.

His teammates also supported the decision to hand him the jersey number zero. Yet there is no clarity on his return timeline. The Cowboys’ VP Stephen Jones claimed that the linebacker might miss a portion of the 2025 season. With these developments, fans are excited to watch him in action.
