Despite tasting defeat for the first time at the hands of Shavkat Rakhmonov, Ian Machado Garry’s confidence remains unshaken. Now laser-focused on redemption, ‘The Future’ is eyeing a statement finish against Carlos Prates in his next outing. Disappointed after not being eligible for the UFC 315 welterweight title fight, Garry has redirected his frustration toward “The Fighting Nerd” — vowing to embarrass the rising phenom. Adding fuel to the fire, Garry has even dropped a humiliating revelation about Prates ahead of their clash.
Ian Garry will clash with Carlos Prates at UFC Kansas City on April 26th, just before the welterweight title defense at UFC 315. Originally, Prates was supposed to fight Geoff Neal at UFC 314, however, the fight fell through as Neal pulled out of the fight, but ‘The Nightmare’ got a bigger match against Garry. And guess what? A bigger opponent brings bigger drama—and this time, Prates’ past has been exposed by ‘The Future’.
In his most recent escapade, the Irish fighter took to his social media handle to brutally rip into Prates, calling him a quitter. How? Well, Garry had gotten his hands on one of Prates’ past fight clips where he gave up.”Here look at this, this is a video of Carlos Prates and his true fighting spirit, it’s called being a quitter.
He further added, “He had just been beaten up in all of the rounds prior. Puts his hand up, shakes his head, says, ‘I’m done,’ and then just drops to the ground in absolute despair because he knows that deep down, he’s not a fighter.” ‘The Nightmare’ is riding an 11-fight winning streak, and guess what? He has knocked out 10 of his last opponents—including in his past four UFC fights, all of which ended in knockouts.

With a career record of 21 victories and 6 defeats, Carlos Prates has knocked out most of his opponents, however, he has had some embarrassing defeats as well. The video footage titled ‘The Future’ showcased his battle with Mikhail Romanchuk, where he was forced to retreat after Romanchuk threw a heavy hook at him.
The Brazilian has had his fair share of defeats, but there’s no doubt that he has improved his game since then. ‘The Nightmare’ has been undefeated since 2019, racking up win after win by way of knockout. However, this hasn’t fazed the Irishman, who has asserted that he will secure a finish.
