“This is my first time I haven’t been in the playoffs..I just gotta do what’s best for me and my family..I’m opening the door. Like, I’m out, bruh.” This was Tyreek Hill’s bombshell interview after the Dolphins missed out on the playoffs in their season finale, with Hills missing his first. Mediocrity isn’t something Hill has been familiar with. Ever since he landed in the league back in 2016, Hill has never seen his season end earlier. But after Dolphins failed to secure a playoff spot, Hill couldn’t take it. Not only did the team fail to meet their expectations. 2024 was only the 3rd time Hill couldn’t cross the 1,000-yard mark. So, coming off his worst season yet, where Hill started all his games. Chris Grier may have just spilled the price a team needs to pay to land Cheetah.
Despite Hill’s late season emotional outbreak, he did apologize later. But he has since constantly dropped cryptic posts, fueling speculation of him leaving Miami. So, when Grier was asked whether Hill is on the trade block, the Dolphins GM firstly said, “That is not anything that we’re pursuing.” However, he went on to admit that if a massive offer did come, he wouldn’t mind changing his stance. “Who knows? If someone wants to come and give me two first-round picks, we’ll consider it.” Well, Grier may have revealed the price of trading his star receiver.
But the real question is: Is there anyone willing to give up two 1st-round picks for Tyreek? Probably not considering the Dolphins themselves didn’t give two firsts to Kansas City in 2022. To lure Hill to South Beach, the Dolphins sent a first-round pick, a second-round pick, two fourth-round picks and a sixth-round pick. The last time any team chose to trade their multiple first-round picks was the Browns for, you know who, Deshaun Watson. And look how that turned out to be. Obviously, the chances of the same happening with Hills remains lower.
With the #Dolphins planning to move on from Jalen Ramsey, could Tyreek Hill also be traded?

Considering he hauled in 119 receptions and over 1,700 yards in the first two campaigns here in Miami, the chances of Hill flopping remain out of the question. You also can’t forget that Tua Tagovailoa only played 11 games last season because of concussion issues. So, missing his star QB obviously led to a significant drop in Hill’s production. And even if the Dolphins do decide to trade Hill, it would come with some serious repercussions. Trading Hill before June 1 would lead to the Dolphins taking a $28.89M cap hit. After June 1, they might save $2.24M against the initial number. Still, it’s quite a lot.
However, Hill ain’t the only one possibly on the trading block. 7-time Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey might be heading out of Miami after signing a huge three-year, $72.30M extension last season.
Jalen Ramsey joins Tyreek Hill in the trading block
Ramsey has had quite a nine-year career in the NFL. Picked 5th overall by the Jags in 2016, Ramsey was traded midway through the 2019 season. Joining the Rams turned out to be a beautiful chapter for Ramsey, who won Super Bowl LVI in LA. That season, Ramsey put up career-high numbers 77 tackles, 16 passes defensed, and 4 INTs, before 2022 saw new highs. In his last season with the Rams, Ramsey logged in 88 total tackles, 18 passes defensed, 4 INTs and 2 forced fumbles. But in the 2023 offseason, the Rams traded Ramsey for TE Hunter Long and a 2023 third-round pick.
However, Ramsey’s first season in Miami didn’t go too well. He missed seven games because of a torn meniscus and only came back to start 10 games. But 2024 turned out to be a fruitful year for Ramsey. He played Dolphins 97% defensive snaps and went on to record 11 passes defensed with two interceptions and one sack. Still, there’s a growing uncertainty with Ramsey’s future in Miami. Grier said on Wednesday, “We’re prepared if he’s here. We’ll deal with it. And if he’s not, we’ll adjust as well. So, we good about where it is.”
There haven’t been any trade inquiries about Ramsey just yet. But surely someone would knock on Grier’s doors to ask for the 3-time First-Team All-Pro cornerback.
