“I Tried Everything” – Official Update on KSI vs. Dillon Danis Fight Ends All Hopes of Rebooking Misfits Boxing Event

5 min read

“I’m gonna have to write a serious book one day …” said Mams Taylor, Co-President of Misfits Boxing — during a February 2025 interview with Ben Davis and Biel. And what might inspire such a book? The rollercoaster saga of Dillon Danis vs. KSI. The whole ordeal began on November 18, 2022, when Danis showed up at a press conference for MF & DAZN: X Series 003. There, he came face-to-face with KSI, and it was announced that ‘El Jefe’ would be fighting KSI on January 14, 2023. However, on January 4, Danis pulled out of the bout, citing that he was “underprepared” and dealing with weight issues.

KSI still fought on January 14, stepping in against FaZe Temperrr instead — a match he won via knockout. A second attempt at making Danis vs. KSI happen was scheduled for 29 March 2025, but this time, it was KSI who withdrew just eight days before the fight due to illness. On social media, KSI described how severely ill he was, experiencing headaches, coughing, and sinus problems, but made it clear he still wanted the fight. “I still want to knock out Dillon Danis. I didn’t train this hard for nothing.”

For the unversed, Danis was looking for a quick turnaround after his disappointing loss to Logan Paul on October 14th, 2023, by targeting fights with both KSI and Tony Ferguson. A win over KSI—one of the most prominent names in crossover boxing—could have boosted Danis’ resume and helped him regain momentum. Owing to KSI’s withdrawal, the card was postponed. But as of now, The ‘Misfits: Unfinished Business’ Boxing event has been scrapped altogether.

In a more recent interview published on April 14th, 2025, Ben Davis and Biel of Misfits News sat down with Taylor again to revisit the situation. “It’s the first show we have canceled after the announcement. We know about the American show we were supposed to do, but that never got off the ground for us to announce. I can tell you right now that I tried everything in my power to keep the show going. I tried to do it as a non-pay-per-view, I tried to replace KSI, which is no easy feat. I tried to replace Danis’ opponent and find a new opponent for him. Ran into all kinds of problems there, but literally, there was no option left but to do that.”

KSI has unfortunately declared that he is unsure if he will fight again after withdrawing from his scheduled bout against Danis. It was the second time this has happened with the Brit as his two-on-one fight with Slim Albaher and Anthony Taylor was canceled due to a hand injury. Reflecting on his journey, KSI addressed the setbacks that have plagued his boxing career since 2022 and shared his mental struggles. “The amount of stress I’ve gone through over the past few years. Even with Misfits in general, it’s been stressful.”

Meanwhile, Danis was presented with another opportunity — a fight against Tony Ferguson under the GFL banner set for May 25 and 26. But once again, things took an unexpected turn. “Our primary investor didn’t fulfill his April obligation, which has caused some issues. However, we have a solution in place. We are likely going to have to launch in June, but we are 100 percent moving forward,” said GFL founder Darren Owens, officially delaying the cards. Between KSI’s uncertain future and Danis’s scrapped matchup, the chaos surrounding crossover boxing continues — with fans still waiting to see what happens next.

Dillon Danis and his bad luck with Misfits Boxing and GFL continues

Dillon Danis has come forward and expressed his frustration regarding the cancelation of his upcoming bouts with KSI and Tony Ferguson. He took to X and said, “Being real, I’m frustrated as hell. I wanted to stay as active as possible for myself and for everyone who supports me in 2025. First KSI canceled on me, then said he wouldn’t be fit to reschedule. We couldn’t lock in a replacement. I said yes to everyone. And now with the Tony Ferguson fight being moved, I get the criticism.”

“I know what people say about me not fighting. I don’t want that to be the narrative, and I’ve been doing everything I can to change it. I just want to back up everything I’ve been saying and prove I’m the best in the world. Sorry, everyone.”

Misfits Boxing head Mams Taylor responded with a bit of reassurance, hinting that Danis may have something new on the horizon: “You’ve sure had some bad luck. You’re fighting soon, Danis.”

On the other hand, KSI is also feeling the weight of recent cancellations and health concerns, with the ongoing setbacks taking a toll on both his mental and physical health. Will Danis finally get the opportunity to step back into the ring and prove himself? And can KSI recover and return to form? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
