Conor McGregor’s Teammate Attacks Michael Chandler for 2018 Insult After Paddy Pimblett Humiliation at UFC 314

4 min read

Did you know that, of all people, Michael Chandler has a beef with none other than Dillon Danis? What’s more? This beef goes back seven years. Back in 2018, Danis made his MMA debut at Bellator 198 against Kyle Walker, who he beat in the first round via a toe-hold submission. But despite the emphatic performance, Michael Chandler who was fighting championship bouts in the now-defunct promotion didn’t think of Danis’ win as too impressive. On the JRE MMA Show episode #25, Chandler sat down together with Joe Rogan and weighed in on Danis’ performance. He claimed that ‘El Jefe’ looked like “a fish out of water on the feet.”

Well, to be clear, ‘Iron’ Mike did respect Danis’ win, but he took a stand against ‘El Jefe’ for his antics and his trying to emulate his then-training partner Conor McGregor. He said, “It’s funny how much he’s being called out for being just a wannabe Conor with the exact same stuff. He’s doing a good job with it, but he also said he’s the highest paid fighter in Bellator and silly stuff.” And ‘Iron’ claimed the same in a tweet.

Following the events of Bellator 198, Chandler wrote on Twitter (now X), “Just catching up to #bellator198 [Dillon Danis] said he was the “highest paid fighter in @BellatorMMA” but I think he meant to say “most un-athletic fighter in Bellator” and that was against a man with a losing record. #cringe #slow #sloth #bellator198”

Little did ‘Iron’ Mike know that his words would come back to bite him in the rear end. We all know about Michael Chandler’s UFC run. This last weekend, he lost his fifth (out of seven) UFC bout, to Paddy Pimblett, and is now on a three-fight losing skid. In terms of Chandler’s UFC success, and particularly with his hopes to become a UFC champ—the writing is on the wall. And right after he lost the battle against Paddy Pimblett, ‘El Jefe’ took a trip back to 2018 and sent a reply to Chandler’s tweet. He wrote, “This aged well .”

Of course, this wasn’t the only time Chandler and Danis engaged in online warfare. Back when Danis fought Logan Paul in an exhibition bout in 2023, the former Bellator champ wasted no time in lashing out at ‘El Jefe’. Let’s see what ‘Iron’ had to say.

Michael Chandler dissed Dillon Danis for fighting Logan Paul

First of all, let’s take note that Danis has been inactive since his win over Max Humphrey in 2019. Well, that’s if we exclude his fight with Logan Paul in 2023. Chandler, on his YouTube channel, dissed Logan Paul’s decision to box Danis. After all, neither of them was a professional boxer. And he couldn’t steer clear of calling Danis a troll. He said, “This is absolutely a troll spectacle sensationalized entertainment type of fight. There is absolutely zero boxing credentials and zero boxing talent on this side of the picture.”

But fighting wasn’t the only thing that put Chandler and Danis against each other. Chandler is a father of three children, and two of them are adopted. And true to form, Danis didn’t back away from making snide remarks about the adoption. ‘El Jefe’ also accused ‘Iron’ Mike of using PEDs, claiming it made the High Ridge, Missouri native impotent, as being the reason behind Chandler and wife going the adoption route rather than conception.

In a later incident, Danis made a post where he promised to pay $5,000 to a random follower if the San Francisco 49ers won that year’s Super Bowl. However, Chandler knew that it was nothing but a false promise. He replied, “Fact checkers get it right on this one.” Do you think it’s high time for the two to settle their scores with a fight? If yes, where do you think that fight will happen? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
