Is Bryce Mitchell a Farmer? All About the UFC Star’s Lesser-Known Passion

4 min read

At UFC 314, Bryce Mitchell will square off against Jean Silva in what promises to be an absolute banger—already generating more buzz than the headliner between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes. Mitchell, known as ‘Thug Nasty,’ has built an impressive career, boasting a record of 17 wins and just three losses. But here’s a fun fact: outside the Octagon, he’s also a dedicated farmer, embodying that rugged, hardworking spirit both in and out of the cage.

When he is not breaking bones inside the Octagon, Bryce Mitchell likes to spend his time in nature specifically on his farm. So, now the question arises, what kind of a farmer is he? Well, stay tuned, as we will dive into his farming stories.

All we know about Bryce Mitchell’s farming activities

Be it Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, or Bryce Mitchell, every fighter has his own identity outside the Octagon. McGregor is a successful businessman, Cormier has his own podcast, and Mitchell? Well, the outspoken fighter has embraced village life, spending most of his time on his cattle farm.

When asked about his farms, Bryce Mitchell emphasized that it is the only place that frees him from government clutches, “Farming is the path to freedom, and it always has been because if you can really create your own shelter, have your own water, have your own clothing, have your own food, you do not need a government to rule over you,” Mitchell said in an interview with The MMA Guru.

Being a cattle farmer, Bryce Mitchell likes to show off the injuries that he sustained from his farming endeavors. Interestingly, the fighter in his recent escapade has emphasized that he likes to kill Coyotes to protect his harvest.

Bryce Mitchell admits to killing Coyotes while farming

The UFC 314 press conference was a wild ride for the fans. From the back-and-forth between Yair Rodriguez and Diego Lopes to Jean Silva commanding his fans to boo Mitchell by barking, things were chaotic. Silva has the command of the fans, and as they booed Mitchell, ‘Thug Nasty’ took his mic to drop the cold line, “I’ve put a lot of dogs down in my day. Those dogs that like to come up to the farm. They kill my animals. They come to harm me and my family and they come barking. You know what they all got in common? They squeal right before they die.”

Bryce Mitchell specifically said that he has put down dogs (coyotes) that have been killing his livestock or causing danger on his farm in Arkansas

Mitchell is facing immense backlash due to his dog-killing comments; however, what’s the reality? Renowned journalist Damon Martin shared these comments on his X handle, and The MMA Guru responded, clarifying that when Mitchell referred to ‘dogs,’ he actually meant coyotes.“Bryce Mitchell specifically said that he has put down dogs (coyotes) that have been killing his livestock or causing danger on his farm in Arkansas…”

And not just that, ‘Thug Nasty’ was among the first fighters to support small farmers in the UFC.

Bryce Mitchell stands up for small farmers

Can you sell steaks and raw milk to your neighbors without any government intervention? According to Bryce Mitchell, the answer is a straight no, and that’s why he is standing up for the small farmers who have been shunned by the corny monopolies. During a conversation at the UFC 310 post-fight press conference, Mitchell was asked by a reporter about his stance on allowing small farmers to sell raw milk and steak wherever they want.

He responded by saying, “You can’t motivate people who don’t want to farm, but what could be fixed right now is to allow me to sell raw milk. You could allow me to sell steak to my neighbors. The government doesn’t do that because they are evil communist bastards, and if they would let people sell raw milk and allow farmers to sell directly to anybody they want, anywhere they want, we’d get free access to healthy milk and healthy meat. You would stop seeing the monopolies.”

Bryce Mitchell has always been a strong advocate for a free state, and the government’s seeming interference in his business really irks him. Regardless, what are your thoughts on Bryce Mitchell as a fighter? State your opinion in the comments below.
