“He Got a Gift”- WWE’s Bias for John Cena Exposed as CM Punk Narrates Insider Details to Daniel Cormier

4 min read

CM Punk just dropped a bombshell while talking to Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen on the Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast. So, what did he say? Well, ‘The Cult of Personality’ decided to expose WWE’s bias toward a major star ahead of the much-awaited Elimination Chamber, the next premium event the company hosts on March 1 in Canada. Any guess, well, you can’t see him!

It is a major event fans are dying to see. After all, the match’s participants get an opportunity for the title, at WrestleMania. However, they must earn their spot on the six-fighter list for the Elimination Chamber match. And most participants will fight for it unless they are John Cena. Speaking to Chael Sonnen and ‘DC,’ CM Punk revealed he remains annoyed because John Cena gets a spot in the match.

Yes, some might say WWE favors John Cena. It led the 46-year-old to mention, “I’m looking at the Chamber now like, ‘Oh, Cena’s got a buy? Cena just gets to be in it?’ Okay, Mr. I’m filming ‘Matchbox’ in Budapest. I’m gonna just disappear, and then I just get a gift?” He added that his motivation to qualify for the PPV stemmed from a wish to overcome the popular John Cena.

The ‘Cult of Personality’ further told Chael Sonnen and Daniel Cormier, “So I want to qualify for the Chamber so I can slap the s*** out of John Cena. That might be my last opportunity to do so. Obviously, Mania’s a big deal, and I’m not putting that on the back burner or anything like that, but he’s already in it, and he got a gift, he got a bye, he got a handout, he’s in the Chamber because he’s John Cena? Well, I’m gonna qualify, and I’m gonna come after him. That’s my goal.”

Well, he will finally get his wish as CM Punk beat Sami Zayn in WWE Raw’s main event to qualify for the men’s Elimination Chamber match. However, he would also have to go against his current biggest rival, Seth Rollins, if the latter manages to earn his spot after facing Finn Balor in the coming days.

Even if he fails to do so, maybe Rollins can find his way to the UFC, as he believes he would’ve done a better job than CM Punk.

Seth Rollins claims he would do better than CM Punk in the UFC

One wrestler who reacted negatively to CM Punk’s return at Survivor Series WarGames 2023 was Seth Rollins. He had stated on several occasions that Punk had a detrimental impact on the business. It’s simply because of the negative comments about WWE he made while he was away. So, in return, he too decided to badmouth CM Punk as well.

During an interview with ESPN, Seth Rollins commented on whether someone in the UFC could transform into a WWE superstar, as Ronda Rousey did in her day. Seth stated it is challenging, although both fighting sports are polar opposites.

According to ‘The Visionary,’ UFC fighters lack the stamina to fight every weekend. Nonetheless, he also believes he can’t do what they do either; although he would still do better than CM Punk as per him. The 38-year-old said, “I can’t do what they do. I’d go in there and get knocked out and choked out in two seconds. I’d probably do better than Punk, but I would still lose, most likely. They can’t come and do what we do either. They are the same umbrella, but two totally different worlds.”

Well, maybe the UFC is still a long shot for the former WWE champion. But what do you think? Do you see any WWE superstars coming to the UFC in the coming months or years? Let us know in the comments.
