With the meteoric rise of the women’s game, the WNBA management is going all out to capitalize on the sudden wave of popularity. Cathy Engelbert recently announced a ‘rivals week’, and the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky are gonna kick it off in style!
However, it might be a stretch to call Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark rivals. Even though there have been incidents of friction, such as the NCAA championship game, both athletes have made it clear that there’s no ill-will between them.
Obviously, social media went crazy after the news broke. Fans weren’t all that happy with this rivalry being dragged out. “Yay! Another year of this forced rivalry.” A fan said, and it was a common sentiment. Another user pointed out how the Aces and the Fever would actually make for decent rivals. “This fake rivalry between CC and AR is getting old. Let’s move on. I see the Aces and Fever as a rivalry.”
Caitlin Clark and the Fever will face Angel Reese and the Sky in prime time to tip off the inaugural WNBA Rivals Week in August. Other games will include New York-Minnesota and Atlanta’s Brittney Griner facing her old Phoenix Mercury squad. https://t.co/GPpcvWOFRL
