The Buffalo Bills are in a win-now window, and they can’t miss any chance to achieve their goal this time. Every move counts. But head coach Sean McDermott still sees some holes that need to be patched fast. One big one? Cornerback!
As Kristopher Knox pointed out, “The Buffalo Bills have just $6 million in cap space remaining and will likely need to consider relative bargains at this point in free agency.” And let’s not forget about Rasul Douglas. The team still hasn’t locked him in, and time’s ticking.
With Douglas’s future still uncertain, another Bills insider has thrown out a possible backup plan.
According to Ryan Talbot’s suggestion on X, “Add Virginia Tech CB Dorian Strong to the #Bills’ pre-draft visit list.” Strong comes from Maryland and has recorded a total of 81 tackles (solo) since 2020. Praising more on his skills, Talbot added, “Strong had good instincts and footwork. He’s also a solid tackler. Strong is projected as a day three pick.”

No doubt, Dorian Strong has got that fire! When he’s in man coverage, he plays physical. He gets right up in a receiver’s face, making one quick jab off the line, and boom! Their timing’s thrown off. And guess what? He doesn’t stop there. At the catch point, he stays aggressive – Knocks balls loose and makes you earn every yard.
Similarly, in the zone, although he portrays a different look, he comes with the same energy. Eyes locked on the backfield, he reads the quarterback, jumps routes, and makes plays. That’s why he’s got five picks over his last two seasons at Virginia Tech. Hence, he could be a great addition to Sean McDermott’s squad.
As per the reports, Dorian Strong is set to meet with Sean McDermott and the Bills soon. Now we wait to see if something clicks. But let’s not forget that he’s not the only name on their radar.
East Carolina’s Shavon Revel could be in play, too, maybe as their CB2. Sure, some teams might pause because of his torn ACL last September, but the Bills might be willing to take that shot. At the end of the day, no matter who they go after, one thing’s clear: Sean McDermott’s defense is banged up. And it needs help. Fast.
Sean McDermott gets a shocker?
As CBS Sports’ Jeff Kerr stated, “The pressure is constantly on (Josh) Allen and Buffalo to win that elusive first Super Bowl title.” The MVP is no doubt ready to go to every inch to get his team to glory. But do Sean McDermott’s other members feel the same?
This offseason, the Bills made an impressive move by bringing in defensive dynamo – Joey Bosa. However, as the defensive end has dealt with a myriad of injuries over the past three seasons, many still see him as an injury-prone defensive move from Sean McDermott and the franchise. But the HC isn’t worried about the noise. However, he has got a plan.
At the NFL Annual Meetings, Sean McDermott gave a little wink to what’s coming. He said, “We’ve had success before in taking guys maybe who had an injury history.” Hence, he indicated that the Bills know how to handle such situations. And he’s not bluffing. Bosa’s been through it – Hamstring issues. Foot sprains. Concussions. It’s a long list! But when he’s on the field? He wrecks games. That’s why the Bills took a shot, handing him a one-year, $12.6 million deal.
All in all, Sean McDermott’s putting faith in his strength staff – Will Greenberg, Joe Collins. As he believes, these sports science staff know how to keep players right!
