‘Grow Tf Up’: PGA Tour Pro’s Drastic Measures for Anger Control Has Golf Community Divided

2 min read

Ever wanted to smash your club and go on a rant just because you missed the fairway? Has a bad putt made you throw curses in every direction on the course? Well, even the pros go through such moments, and they too lose their cool at times. But everyone has a different way to deal with the frustration. Some take it out on their club, others dig a hole in the course, and then some will start insulting themselves for missing such easy strokes.

Ryan McCormick would probably put himself in the last category. The Korn Ferry Tour star has had enough near misses in his career for episodes of anger to become infamous. He is probably the biggest and the worst critic of his own game as he throws abuses at himself after every bad miss. After his miserable performance in the first few holes of the ongoing Savannah Golf Championship 2025, the 33-year-old decided to take a drastic step to stop himself from going on another series of rants.

Golf_com shared an Instagram post showing what the Korn Ferry Tour pro did at the Deer Creek Golf Club recently. As the picture shows, he taped his mouth shut to stop himself from getting angry. The caption of the post read, “‘I just figured I’d just shut myself up so I put tape over my mouth.’ Ryan McCormick tried everything to control his anger. He’s resorted to taping his mouth,” as McCormick explained why he took the drastic step on the course.
