Who are Kiara Romero’s Support Pillars? Parents, Siblings, and More Explored

4 min read

Whenever you accomplish something great, who is the first person that comes to mind to celebrate with? For college golfer Kiara Romero, it might be her sister, Kaleiya. Growing up in San Jose, California, Kiara began playing golf at just six years old. Throughout her journey, her parents and Kaleiya remained her unwavering support system.

Born on 7 March 2006, Kiara Romero is the daughter of Rick Romero and Maricel Romero. She spent her childhood in San Jose, California, with two siblings, Kyreece and Kaleiya. Interestingly, she inherited this sporting gene from her family. Her father, Rick, was a basketball player at UC Irvine in his early days. The college golfer’s grandfather, Lon Romero, played baseball at San Jose State. Meanwhile, there is no information about her mother, Maricel’s childhood. Additionally, not much can be found about her parents online, keeping it private but one thing is for sure that they did support thier daughter in her golf journey.

As for her sister, Kaleiya, she is also a talented golfer. Kaleiya completed her schooling at Evergreen Valley High School, located in San Jose. During this time, she also played high school golf. Moreover, Kalieya was the Blossom Valley Athletic League MVP as a freshman and sophomore. She later completed her graduation from California Connections Academy with a major in psychology, an online school, in 2020.

Kaleiya achieved numerous accomplishments in high school golf. She was a two-time NCGA/JGANC NorCal Players Champion. She also has nine wins on the Junior Tour of Northern California and was the co-medalist in stroke play at the 2019 California Women’s Amateur. Fast forward to the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur, and Kaleiya made it to the match play of the tournament.

Kaleiya’s life isn’t limited to golf. She is an outgoing person and likes to post about it on her Instagram. She seems to be a fan of beaches and mountains, and won’t miss the chance to enjoy them, and Kiara accompanies her sometimes. Although her sister Romero’s social media speaks a lot about her interest in golf, there’s no information about her moving forward with it as a career. Instead, she uses this experience to support her sister. Kaleiya has also been a caddie to her sister.

Kiara Romero had her sister in her bag

From the second round of the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Romero started making waves after she climbed to the top of the leaderboard. It’s true that her skills helped her to do so, but her sis Kaleiya also deserves praise. Before heading to the Augusta National Golf Club for the final round, the 19-year-old had an option. Either she could keep her sister or go with a local caddie.

She talked about her choice, saying, “I’m thinking about having my sister stay on the bag, but we’re just going to go out tomorrow, have a local caddie and her kind of walk with me throughout it,” Romero said. “I’ll just go from there.” Kaleiya watched her sister become one of 2025’s best college golfers. Kiara Romero was extremely happy about it and said, “I feel like this week I’ve been like the happiest I’ve ever been on the course.”

Overall, the Romero sister seems to have a very good bond, and it will be interesting to see how Kiara Romero navigates from here. What do you think about these two? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
