The new season for the American tennis ace Coco Gauff didn’t begin well, as she exited the Australian Open earlier than expected. But did she let it affect her life or leisure plans for the former US Open champion? Not at all! Gauff is making the most of her time in Florida before her next appearance, enjoying a fun night at a sporting event yesterday. And, spoiler alert for you: It wasn’t a tennis showdown!
After an amazing last half of the season of 2024, in which Coco captured two individual titles, the China Open in September, and the WTA Finals in November, everyone expected Coco Gauff to kick off the new season by securing her second GS. And why wouldn’t they? Her strong performance at the WTA Finals, culminating in a comeback win over Qinwen Zheng, carried into the new year with an undefeated run to victory for Team USA in the United Cup in Sydney.
However, the tides turned in the AO quarterfinals. Despite dominating all her matches till QF with impressive ease, the world no. 3 couldn’t maintain her composure, suffering a straight-set loss to Spaniard Paula Badosa and crashing out of the AO. But, true to her spirit, the American is now enjoying a break from the court before her next appearance back at her home in Florida, as she shared moments of fun at Unrivaled, flaunting her enjoyment through snippets on social media.
Coco enjoyed a night out at Unrivaled yesterday, where she had the chance to meet ‘Skylar Diggins-Smith’, the American professional basketball player for the Seattle Storm in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Later, the WNBA star posted a video on her Instagram, saying, “I met a last night! Shoutout to @cocogauff for stopping by! And she ate the fit #HootieHoo.” Coco then shared the same video on her Instagram stories, adding, “Made a core memory watching her hit the game-winner.” But that wasn’t all for the day!
The 20-year-old posted a series of pictures on her stories, where she commented “Hottyyyyhoott” and tagged “Lunar Owls BC”. In another story, she reposted one of her own Instagram pictures posted by the Unrivaled Basketball League’s IG handle leading to her night out, writing, “If you’re not turning into Unrivaled, you’re missing out.” Coco also posted a picture with Angel Reese, a WNBA player for the Chicago Sky, adding “courtside baddies @angelreese5.” And her timeout from the court in Florida doesn’t end there.
A couple of days ago, one of Coco’s childhood friends, Jamilah Nicole, also shared a picture of another night out at ‘TopGolf’ in Florida itself. And Coco again, wasting no time, reposted the same in her Instagram stories, while adding a simple and exciting caption, “”. Not only that. The night before that day, Coco was also seen chilling out with her family, at a fair from South Florida. However, that story was unveiled by her mom, Candi, when she posted a carousel of pictures with the family, adding “South Florida Fair on $2 Tuesdays, free parking, and selected items for $2”.
During her current respite from on-court activities, Coco has been seen in a series of stylish ensembles reminiscent of her attire at the AO. This time, alongside praise from her fans, she received compliments from her mother for her classic denim outfit.

Fashion, style, and enigma! The remarkable combination of skills exhibited by Coco Gauff accounts for her status as a modern tennis star, isn’t it? Just like her AO outfits, where she captured the crowd’s attention with her in-court kits, the fashionista is making waves once again during her time off in her hometown, Florida. However, this time, her mom couldn’t help but praise the 20-year-old’s stunning look, once again!
Following a brief absence from the court, she was at yesterday’s Phantom vs. Rose game, looking stylish in an all-denim ensemble. And the tennis prodigy quickly received appreciation when her stylish look caught the camera’s attention! The official Instagram handle of the Unrivaled Basketball League shared a picture of the American in her outfit, which immediately caught her mother Candi’s eye, prompting her to repost it on her own Instagram story with a heart and a fire emoji. Joining the Instagram buzz, Paige Lorenze, the girlfriend of 9th-seeded American tennis star Tommy Paul, also chimed in, quoting, “Gorgeous queen” under the post.
Coco will now kick off her next campaign in the first WTA 1000 tournament of the season at the Qatar Open, starting on February 9th. Could this be her first title of the year? Share your thoughts below!
