While Jimmy Butler was at war with the Heat management, he made it clear that his beef was not with his teammates. He said in January, “As much as everybody may think, I don’t got a problem with these guys. These guys are cool. They’re my friends… My beef is not with them and never will be. Never has been.” So, when Butler returned to Miami tonight for the first time since last month’s blockbuster trade, everyone expected it to be a wholesome reunion with his former teammates. But that’s not what happened!
As soon as the final whistle blew, Jimmy gave the Heat players a cold shoulder and headed straight to locker room without meeting any of them. Maybe, some of it had to do with the Warriors getting blown out by 26 points and Butler was just frustrated after the embarrassing loss. Turns out, even Bam Adebayo was unbothered by the Warriors star’s cold behavior.
During the postgame presser, Bam said, “Like I said man I’m just glad we got the win. I don’t care about who we was playing against.” Yes, it was just another game for the Heat and their sole focus was to get another win and stay in the playoff race. Right now, they are seeded 10th in the East and stuck in the play-in bracket. Adebayo continued, “It’s one of those things where we are scrapping for wins man. So, glad we got the W.”
Jimmy quits on his teammates 1/3 of the way into a season and gets his ass kicked by them in his first game back in Miami.

Moreover, he also revealed his feelings about guarding an elite wing player like Butler, “I think it’s part of my versatility. I feel like that just adds value to me obviously, I have been doing that quite some time when switching. But to start on primary wings, its different.” Despite how things ended with Butler and the Heat, Bam is still not badmouthing his former teammate, “Like I said man, the guy has been through the trenches with us. So, utmost respect to him. I’m just glad we got the win.”
Of course, Jimmy and Bam were running mates for over five years and went to countless battles together – including two NBA Finals trips. So, there is still mutual respect between the two stars. However, Bam got the better of him tonight.
