The field at Pebble Beach Golf Links is packed with the biggest and best golfers in the world. Many top players made their season debut this weekend. This has ensured that the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am would be a star-studded affair. And it doesn’t come as a surprise, considering the purse value of the tournament.
The second signature PGA Tour event of the season is being played for a $20 million purse. That’s more than twice the reward from last weekend. But are all the pros only playing for monetary benefits? Well, players like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler wouldn’t be too bothered about that. So what brings these players to California? Let’s find out.
What does the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am offer?
The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is one of the eight signature PGA Tour events of the season. Combined with the four majors, these are considered the biggest tournaments in the Tour every year. The season kicks off with a signature event, The Sentry 2025. That saw Hideki Matsuyama give a record-breaking performance to capture the title in the 4th round. The win awarded him 51.94 points on the OWGR leaderboard.
Well, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament is no different. Despite having a limited field without any cuts, the event offers a considerable number of OWGR points. According to the official OWGR website, the Pebble Beach tournament winner is bound to get 71.62 points on the leaderboard. That is nearly 20 points more than The Sentry at the beginning of January 2025.
Interestingly, the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament also offered nearly similar OWGR points of 71.74. This comes as a surprise considering The Sentry 2024’s winner had received about 9 more points than Matsuyama did in 2025.
Now that we know the exact OWGR points awarded to the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am winner, let’s see where the top players on the leaderboard might end up if they win this weekend.
Probable changes on OWGR leaderboard
Winning 71.62 OWGR points will help a lot of players rise up the rankings on the leaderboard. One of them would be the current leader, Sepp Straka. Straka has been in great form for the past few days. He came off a great win a couple of weeks ago at the American Express. That helped him jump up 17 spots to 19 on the OWGR board. With a win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Sepp Straka will take Ludvig Aberg’s spots on the table. There is no way Aberg could fight back as well since he withdrew from the tournament a few hours ago.
Next in line would be Cameron Davis or Russell Henley. Both sit at T2 and are in pole position to clear the field by the end of round 4. A win on Sunday will ensure that they break into the top 10 on the official world golf rankings. Interestingly, Rory McIlroy is also not too far away from the top of the leaderboard. He has had a splendid tournament so far where he has been incredibly accurate on the course. A win for the Irishman will help him overtake Xander Schauffele for the second position. He will also move an inch closer to Scottie Scheffler, who has a mammoth lead against any other professional golfer in the world.
