Bryce James Admits LeBron Helped Him Beat Bronny as Lakers Star Issues 7-Word Response For Son’s Major Feat

4 min read

No matter the controversies brother Bronny got caught into, young Bryce James makes sure the family is back cheerful. And he is now a champion! He might not be the heir apparent to LeBron James’ throne, but given his roots in the James household, that was perhaps inevitable. With Sierra Canyon School clinching the CIF State Division 1 title, knocking off Lincoln 58-53, Bryce opened his accolades account. Not in the most convincing fashion, but a win is a win and daddy James is over the moon after the success. The James gang, including Savannah and Zhuri, turned up in Sac Town to support the young gun on Friday night. And there are no brownie points for guessing: LeBron did some coaching work from the courtside.

Following the game, Bryce revealed that his dad indeed had some input during the game. “My dad on the sideline, he’s always coaching me up, telling me what to do. Like, even if I’m how tonight was, I wasn’t making shots, but he just told me to keep shooting. And that just means he has confidence in me. And from now on, I will always have confidence in myself and so will my teammates,” Bryce told the gathered media after the game.

The tips helped as Bryce ended the night with 3 points after going 0-5 from the field early on. His 5 boards and 2 dimes also contributed to the tight affair that ultimately helped him beat Bronny James. Bryce lifted the state championship trophy, something Bronny never won. So now Bryce can have the bragging rights over his big brother, who was 1168 miles away, playing against the Nuggets.

Bryce, however, gave in to peer pressure after trying his best to duck the question about holding the bragging rights over Bronny. Being a supportive brother, he reluctantly agreed to it.

Unlike Bryce, Bronny didn’t have the winner’s luck as the Lakers fell to a late 131-126 defeat. The rookie scored 5 points, including a corner three, as JJ Redick’s team showed a lot of heart in the loss. LeBron James, currently nursing a groin injury, is now day-to-day for his return to the court. But that didn’t stop him from jumping joy at the courtside and by the looks of it, his celebrations are yet to subside.

LeBron James brims with pride as he celebrates Bryce James’ championship victory

There was a sudden uproar in the crowd at the Golden 1 Center on Friday night. LeBron James just entered the building! He might not be the most popular man in those parts of California, but sporting a Trailblazers sweatsuit won over the majority of the crowd. As Bryce’s side sealed the championship, LeBron was seen fist pumping on the sidelines, radiating a proud glow. Taking to Instagram, LeBron posted a family picture, showing the aftermath of the win. “YESSIR!!! So proud of you and CONGRATULATIONS @justbryce ,” the caption read. Another picture in his story showed Bryce holding the trophy with LeBron reminding his millions of fans about his son being a “STATE CHAMP.”

Savannah James also shared her son’s triumphant picture in her IG story along with the song “We are the champions,” perfectly encapsulating her feelings.

That was Bryce’s final game for Sierra Canyon as the 6’4 shooting guard committed to Arizona in January as part of the Wildcats’ 2025 class. Will that lead to some extra hardware in the James family? Too early to answer, but the championship win is a good start, something LeBron and Bronny need to follow up with the NBA playoffs approaching.
