Back in 2009, a young Stephen Curry drained his first career three-pointer off an assist from Andris Biedriņš. Fast forward to 2025, and Curry has rewritten history, becoming the first player to ever hit 4,000 threes. “Steph Curry hits his 4,000th 3-pointer off a pump fake and side step with 8:19 to go in the third quarter. The Chase Center crowd erupted and has come to life,” ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk shared on X.
The Warriors made sure their franchise star got his spotlight for sure. They played a special tribute video celebrating Curry’s historic milestone. “The Warriors just played a special video for Steph Curry’s 4,000th career 3 that began with Andris Biedriņš, who assisted Curry on his first 3 with the Warriors in 2009,” NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson revealed. But the highlight for Curry? A heartfelt message from Biedriņš himself, the man who was there at the very start of his legendary journey.
That surprise hit Curry in ways he didn’t expect. “I actually had—I’d call it an emotional moment on the bench when I saw him. They didn’t tell me that they found him and got a video message from him,” Curry admitted. “That was my vet when I was here my rookie year. I would love to have quizzed our team on the bench and see if anybody knew who that was because that was such a long time ago… Really cool to kind of think back how far I’ve come from the first one to 4,000, which is crazy.”
Stephen Curry entered the game, needing just two more from the deep to reach the magic number. He got the first one early, pulling up from the left wing with 5:35 remaining in the opening quarter. But the road to 4,000 wasn’t without suspense.

Guarded tightly by Keegan Murray and DeMar DeRozan, Curry missed a deep attempt from the top of the arc. Meanwhile, Draymond Green and Quinten Post kept the offense rolling, each knocking down threes of their own. Then, with four minutes left in the half, Curry let another one fly—a 30-footer that clanked off the front rim.
Everyone in the arena could feel it coming. And when it finally did, the Chase Center went wild.
This is a developing story…
