Jerry Jones just pulled a fast one on Sean Payton, and it’s got Cowboys fans grinning. The Denver Broncos made a strong push for veteran punter Bryan Anger, but guess what? He’s staying in Dallas. Per sources, the Cowboys locked him in with a two-year, $6.4 million deal, shutting down Denver’s last-minute attempt. So Jones is keeping his guy, leaving Payton empty-handed.

And that’s not the only business Jones took care of. KaVontae Turpin, the Cowboys’ electric All-Pro returner, was about to hit restricted free agency. He was looking at a second-round tender worth $5.3 million without an extension. But Dallas wasn’t about to risk losing one of their most dangerous weapons. Instead, they handed him a three-year, $18 million deal with $5.5 million guaranteed.
