“Survivor of Pensack Sports .” This is Noah Vonleh’s Instagram bio as of right now. The ex-NBA lottery pick, last year, shared his ordeal with his former team, Shanghai Sharks, and the alleged harassment he went through overseas. But where does the sports agency fit in all this? The 29-year-old was their former client and now is in legal trouble, as per TMZ. The Bay Area-based agency even detailed the amount and the legal trouble surrounding the entire feud.
The organization’s legal team added that Noah Vonleh is on a “malicious harassment, defamation, and extortion campaign” against his former sports agency. Plus, the report also adds that the 29-year-old has to pay the agency $235,000. Because they won an arbitration case against him for unpaid agent fees. Attorney Mitch Schuster reported, “Mr. Vonleh did not appeal the decision after he lost and has yet to pay the amount owed.” Schuster further added that the former Indiana Hoosiers product paid social media aggregators to promote his side of the story, which was ultimately removed due to false information.
However, even before the TMZ report came out, Noah Vonleh, on his social media, strongly denied those claims. In one of his posts, the 8-year-NBA veteran asked, “Adam and Ben Pensack, if you win a case, why would you ask the arbitrator and FIBA to keep it confidential to protect your reputation? .” In another one, the 29-year-old questioned even the legal route that is happening against him.
“Adam and Ben Pensack if you claim to have won a FIBA BAT case for approximately $250k in agency fees, why were you trying to settle for just $25k? That doesn’t add up. The guilt of scheming with Alex Ham to take advantage of me must be really be weighing on y’all to make such a drastic change.” Ham is an agent who works from China and was involved in the NBA journeyman’s contract with the Shanghai Sharks.
Plus, the former Portland star also suggested to “run the other way” if Ham and Pensack Sports brothers Adam and Ben Pensack are part of any negotiation. Now that we know the legal trouble, let’s look back at the ordeal in China
Noah Vonleh and his Shanghai Sharks trouble
Before beginning a career overseas, the Charlotte Hornets selected Noah Vonleh with the 9th pick in the 2014 draft. But there, he only played in 25 games and later was sent to Portland as part of the Nicholas Batum trade. The spell with the Trailblazers turned out to be his longest, where he played 185 games. Later, he moved to different teams but couldn’t secure a permanent spot. In 2021, he decided to play overseas and signed with the Shanghai Sharks.
On his Instagram, he would share the financial strains he suffered. The 29-year-old added, “Smh it was a crazy year playing in China! Shanghai Sharks by far worst organization l’ve ever been a part of…Very unprofessional. They still owe me my playoff bonus from 21/22 season. They also still owe me the remaining balance of my salary for the 23/24 season.” But apart from financial issues, there were more problems, which he detailed.
“There’s six people coming to my room trying to break in and grab me out the room. They using weapons to try and break in and threatening me saying all kind of things.” Noah Vonleh’s trouble from China doesn’t seem to end, now that his former agents have filed a case.
