Justin Fields Announces New Project as Mike Tomlin Takes Strong Stance Against Steelers QB per National Reporter

4 min read

It looks like Justin Fields is trying to focus on some other things instead of staying embroiled in 24/7 QB drama. Honestly, the Steelers are taking so much time to announce their new QB for 2025 that this whole saga is giving vibes to The Winds of Winter. Like Mike Tomlin is the George RR Martin’s version in Pittsburgh whose QB drama doesn’t have a publication date yet. So, with Fields’ future still up in the air, like it has been since week 6 of last season. The Steelers ‘TBD’ QB has just announced a new project that might help him clear his head of constant questions about his future.

On Friday night, when people are in the mood to party after surviving a long week. Fields dropped some pictures on his Instagram where he had other ambitions. Reminding us of his partnership with Essentia Water, Fields told us through his caption, “Consistency is the key to greatness. No days off, no shortcuts—just relentless pursuit! @EssentiaWater #OverachievingH2O #EssentiaPartner.” Well, of course, Fields is not letting any day go to waste in his pursuit of nailing down a starting job in the league.

And for doing so, he chose Essentia Water to keep him hydrated in this “relentless pursuit.” Actually, there isn’t even a better option out there than Essentia, offering ionized alkaline water with a pH of 9.5. This is specially curated for high performers like Fields to pursue their ambitions and “stop for nothing”. You know what makes Essentia’s partnership with Fields more special. Well, this partnership connects him with someone who is already getting GOAT shouts at 29.

Two years ago Essentia also roped in none other than the Showtime himself Patrick Mahomes. Remember the 2018 season when he became the first QB ever to throw over 5,000 passing yards in both college and professional leagues in a single season? Well, that historic feat prompted Essentia to make Mahomes their brand ambassador ever since. “As an athlete, I know that I can push myself further when I’m properly hydrated with Essentia,” Mahomes said in a statement praising Essentia’s role in his growth.

So, with Mahomes in the same bracket, is it possible for Fields to achieve something similar to the Chiefs QB? Like both are drinking Essentia water to keep their endurance in check. And it’s not impossible for Fields to reach where Mahomes is right now at the top of the QB mountain. However, for that he needs to nail down that starting spot, something he might not get in Pittsburgh.

Mike Tomlin’s stance on Justin Fields as a starter revealed

See there’s no doubt the Steelers would be more than happy to extend Justin Fields’ contract. He is young, has a lot of room to grow and has that chip on his shoulder to prove himself as a worthy starter in the league. But ever since Tomlin decided to go berserk and bench him in favor of Russell Wilson, his relationship with the Steelers head coach hasn’t been the same.

Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports believes Fields is almost certain to hit free agency until he and Tomlin get along again. “There is a market for him and he could chase money. He has to get past any sting/distrust from this season when there was player/assistant sentiment in the building that he return to the starting spot, but Mike Tomlin chose not to do so.”

Well, Tomlin’s decision to stick with Wilson did end up blowing on the Steelers’ face. After winning 6 of the first seven games with Wilson as a starter, the Steelers were 10-3 at one point. From there, everything fell apart, like in Game of Thrones season 8. Wilson lost his flair, and the Steelers lost five games in a row to end 2024 in a disappointing note. As for Fields, it’s pretty clear he wants a starting berth—otherwise he is off to somewhere else. There’s no way he will waste another year playing backup to a QB who is in the twilight of his career.
