Pat McAfee Announces Aaron Rodgers’ NFL Retirement Stance as Jets Cut Davante Adams

3 min read

Pat McAfee is betting the house that Aaron Rodgers is running it back next season. On The Pat McAfee Show, he laid it all out, saying Rodgers is way too locked in to let last year’s mess be his final chapter. “He’s a ball player. This guy literally loves ball,” McAfee said. Yeah, Rodgers does all the hippie, darkness retreat, ayahuasca stuff, but according to McAfee, that’s just him tryna level up. “Everything he does…that’s for him to become a better football player,” he explained. And after tearing his Achilles four snaps in? No way he’s calling it quits.

McAfee also shut down the idea that Rodgers is some chill, guitar-strumming dude who doesn’t care about the game. “He’s one of the most competitive people on earth,” he said. And that fire? It’s gotta go somewhere. McAfee even joked that once Rodgers retires, he’s probably gonna turn into a golf demon: “He’s going to get very good at golf…he’s going to get locked in.” But for now, football is still what he’s choosing to do. The real question is—where’s he gonna play? “I just don’t know where the hell it’s going to be,” McAfee admitted. The Jets? Maybe. The Giants? Some people think so. Right now, it’s giving absolute chaos.

Then there’s the latest drama—allegedly, the Jets told Rodgers he had to quit The Pat McAfee Show if he wanted to come back. “There’s an ultimatum allegedly from Scoop Town that if he wanted to come back and play for the Jets, he’d have to stop doing our show,” McAfee said, clearly over the BS. But Jets GM Joe Douglas shut that all the way down, saying they were moving on no matter what. One thing’s for sure—wherever Rodgers ends up, it’s gonna be a must-watch.

And just to spice things up even more, the Jets are reportedly cutting Davante Adams, per Adam Schefter. “The Jets will save $29.9M in salary cap space by releasing Adams,” Schefter reported. Financially? Makes sense. But if Rodgers stays in New York, he just lost his ride-or-die receiver. Now, with Adams gone and Rodgers’ future still up in the air, the Jets’ offense is looking real sketchy.
