“Mike didn’t want to pass, didn’t want to rebound, and didn’t want to defend the best opposing player” this is Scottie Pippen speaking. One of the guys who has been up close with Michael Jordan. And if he speaks like this about MJ, there is obviously some truth to it. But Stephen Curry on the other hand is different.
While Steph Curry is wrapping up his legendary career with the Warriors, Jayden Daniels is just getting started with the Washington Commanders. One guy who’s had a front-row seat to both of their journeys is Bob Myers. The former Warriors general manager, who helped build Golden State’s championship run, switched gears last offseason and joined the Commanders as a consultant. And now, he’s part of Washington’s breakout 2024 season.
Myers shared an interesting tidbit about Daniels on the 95.7 The Game show, revealing that the rookie quarterback often carries a basketball around with him, even keeping one next to him in the locker room. But what really stood out to Myers was how Daniels carried himself when he met Curry. “And and it was cool to see Jaden kind of the way he responded to Curry was kind of like I’m honored or if you would have time and it was really nice to see somebody and Steph deserves that too.” said the former Warriors GM.

Myers compared it to the way Curry himself interacts with others, noting how both athletes are deeply competitive but also know how to have fun and enjoy the game. “If you watch Jaden during a game, he’s laughing and talking to the other team, even after taking a hit,” Myers explained. “I think Magic Johnson was one of the first ones that I remember loving the game and just expressing that. Steph does that too. Yeah. Um that wasn’t Michael Jordan. That wasn’t Kobe Bryant, it’s silly.” he further added.
Looks like Daniels and Steph have something which MJ and Kobe didn’t. Loving the game and expressing it while also being competitive. But right now it looks like Coach Steve Kerr and Steph do not want another competitive spirit at Golden State.
The Jimmy Butler trade could all come down to Stephen Curry
The Golden State Warriors’ interest in Jimmy Butler hinges on Steph Curry’s stance as reported by Kevin O’Connor. While reports surfaced on Tuesday that the Warriors were eyeing Butler after the Heat lowered their asking price, concerns quickly emerged. According to The Athletic, Curry and head coach Steve Kerr have reservations about Butler’s fit due to his tumultuous past with other teams.
Butler’s history includes conflicts in Chicago with teammates like Joakim Noah and Rajon Rondo, as well as public criticism of coach Fred Hoiberg. His infamous outburst in Minnesota, where he blasted coaches and teammates, still lingers in the NBA’s memory. In Philadelphia, he clashed with Brett Brown’s system and refused to shoot 3-pointers. In Miami, we all know he feuded with Pat Riley and disrespected his teammates.
Given these issues, Curry likely doesn’t want Butler to join a locker room already known for Draymond Green‘s volatile chemistry. Imagine the drama with Butler’s “you f—ing need me!” attitude clashing with Green’s podcast rants—definitely not ideal. The $48 million salary Butler carries this season complicates any potential trade, requiring the Warriors to give up key players like Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga.

If the Warriors pass, other teams like the Bucks or Rockets might step up. However, Memphis remains a potential dark horse despite Butler’s reluctance to play there.
