Connor McDavid Gets Honest About NHL Trade Deadline With a Subtle Message to Oilers’ Management

The transfer deadline is getting closer, and teams are busy making sure that they have enough gas in the tank for a successful postseason run. Well, at least those still in contention are. And one of them is last year’s Stanley Cup finalists, the Edmonton Oilers, who are sitting second in the Pacific Division right behind the Vegas Golden Knights. Having lost the Stanley Cup to the Florida Panthers last year, Connor McDavid would want to flip the script this time around. But it seems like the hero behind Canada’s 4 Nations triumph doesn’t feel that the Oilers management has done enough for that to happen.

TSN’s Ryan Rishaug just took to X to share McDavid’s feelings about the upcoming transfer deadline. And while he talked in general terms about how trades can prove to be an emotional rollercoaster with allegiances, he also had a subtle message for the Oilers management. He said, “Management in years past have always done a good job of pitching in and giving us another horse in the stable to help us coming down the stretch and into the playoffs, so I’d expect management to do the same.”
