Sammy Sosa Doubles Down on Mark McGwire’s PED Argument in Bid to Undo Hall of Fame Ban

3 min read

Baseball has never been a game for the Saints, but Cooperstown sure likes to pretend otherwise. While the Hall of Fame clings to its selective morality, Sammy Sosa is making his case—not by rewriting history, but by reminding everyone of the rulebook that never existed. If PEDs were the crime, where were the laws?

For the first time in 21 years, Sammy Sosa is back in a Chicago Cubs uniform, and he is very happy to be there. Everything was going well until one reporter ruined it all by asking the one forbidden question, and that question was about PED usage.

We all know that Sammy Sosa is not very innocent, and he has admitted that himself, but he has never accepted that he was using steroids while playing in the MLB. And when this question came up, he said, “Man, I don’t really want to go that route, not now.” Whenever asked about this, Sosa becomes uncomfortable and refuses to talk about it. This is why many people suspected him of using drugs to enhance performance, and this is the reason many of the players from that era were never inducted into the Hall of Fame.

But Sammy Sosa thinks differently from MLB and agrees with Mark McGwire about this topic. During an interview, McGwire said, “There was nothing illegal about it. There was no testing at that time. It was a widespread thing in the game.” And this is absolutely right. At that time, many of the teams and managers allegedly were encouraging players to use PEDs.

Sosa is still hopeful but uncertain about the Hall of Fame inductions. He says that with time all the wounds will heal and one day the doors to Hall of Fame will open for the players in that era.

Baseball may love its legends, but it hates acknowledging the messy truth behind them. If the Hall of Fame wants to keep pretending its greatest era never happened, that’s on them. But history has already made its decision, and Sosa’s name isn’t going anywhere.

Sammy Sosa fully backs Kevin Alcantara after an average show

Baseball loves a good prophecy, especially when it comes from a legend. While stats might suggest Kevin Alcantara is just another prospect finding his footing, Sammy Sosa sees something different—something bigger. And if Sosa says “The Jaguar” is the real deal, who’s going to argue?

As we know, Sammy Sosa was back with the Chicago Cubs and helped them improve during the spring training. There was one player who caught the eye of Sosa even after having a below-average season.

The veteran said, “He reminds me of when I was coming up. I was cocky, was confident … I think he’s going to be a very, very good player.” At the Cubs franchise, Sosa’s words carry a lot of weight. Even after a mediocre season in the minor leagues with only 14 home runs, Sosa believes that Alcantara will be a great player.

If Sammy Sosa sees a future star, maybe the box score isn’t the only thing that matters. Alcantara may not have set the minor leagues on fire, but with Sosa’s backing, the Cubs might just have a Jaguar ready to pounce.
