Michael Irvin Destroys Ex-Cowboys Star for Trolling Him After Strong Message to Jerry Jones on Brian Schottenheimer Hiring

3 min read

Michael Irvin has never been one to hold back. The former Cowboys WR always had a knack for speaking his mind, something that has helped him transition into a successful commentator and podcast host. Those familiar with Irvin’s career know that he doesn’t take insults lightly—if someone throws shade his way, he’s quick to respond. Recently, that’s exactly what happened. This time, it was Terrell Owens who found himself on the receiving end.

It all began when Owens discussed Irvin in a previous episode of the IT IS WHAT IT IS podcast, throwing some shade his way by stating that Irvin “can’t f–k with him.” He even pointed out the significant gap between him and Irvin, claiming he was miles ahead. Well, no one expected Irvin to remain silent after that, and in the latest episode of the show, the Cowboys WR fired back at him.

Just before this conversation, Irvin and the others were discussing how there should be two levels to the Hall of Fame, and when Cam’ron mentioned how Owens believed Irvin belonged to the lower tier of that, well, the Cowboys legends had an amazing response. He said, “I understand, but down there in the basement holding up all those damn rings, that’s the only reason, I sunk to the bottom.” That’s some response, right?

Well, Michael Irvin is a 3-time Super Bowl champion with the Dallas Cowboys, while Irvin is not and he did not shy away from stating that. He said, “You ain’t got no rings, you gotta walk up the stairs freely.” The beef between Irvin and Owens is not something new as the pair has been at loggerheads before. And it would be surprising if this was to be the end of it.

Terry Owens wasn’t the only one called out by Michael Irvin

Well, while the Terry Owen-Michael Irvin feud may go on for some time, it is not the only one. Recently, the Cowboys legend also schooled Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about Brian Schottenheimer’s hiring. Irvin used a rather interesting analogy to call out Jones and how his staying rigid has done no good to the team. He believes that the promotion of Schottenheimer from OC to HC is not a big move in the right direction and it will not help the Cowboys greatly.

It’s not just Irvin—many fans share the same sentiment. The Cowboys’ last Super Bowl win was back in 1995, and there’s a growing belief that the team needs a major overhaul if they’re to contend for another championship. Irvin’s stance may have some merit, as there haven’t been many positive signs recently that point to the Cowboys being a serious contender anytime soon.

Michael Irvin’s bold statements continue to capture attention, whether he’s responding to Terrell Owens or challenging the Cowboys’ leadership. His strong opinions reflect the growing frustration among fans who believe the team hasn’t improved significantly since their last Super Bowl win in 1995. Irvin contends that the Cowboys need more than minor adjustments—they require a substantial overhaul to return to championship contention. While it’s uncertain if his comments will prompt any change, one thing is clear: Irvin isn’t backing down anytime soon.
