The slow crumble of greatness! The phrase that comes to my mind thinking about the Charlotte Hornets. LaMelo Ball returned to the floor this season after recovering from a season-ending injury. Initially, it seemed like the team had finally struck the chord with their franchise superstar getting into consistent action. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. Gradually, the Buzz City returned to the same spot where inconsistency ruled, as Ball’s injury began to infest the team.
Once again, it’s the ankle. Ahead of tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, the team had listed the guard in the questionable category, citing right ankle soreness. Already, he has missed the previous game against the Warriors with the same ankle issue. While everyone expected him to lace up tonight, the team downgraded him to Out, as per Grant Afseth, an NBA reporter.

Taking on the wounded Mavericks, the Hornets are undoubtedly short-handed without their ace shooter. Kyrie Irving & Co. is especially coming off the dramatic loss against the Lakers in Luka Doncic’s revenge game. So, riding on emotions, the Texas would look to regain their confidence with a dominating performance against the Charlotte side.
On the other hand, travelling on a 4-game losing streak, LaMelo Ball’s men will be coming after a blowout loss against the Dubs. So, without a doubt, the Hornets wouldn’t mind skipping the game. At the same time, they can’t be sidelined either. With the likes of Miles Bridges, Mark Williams, and Seth Curry on the court, the team can exploit the paint. Notably, the Mavs are coming into the game without any of their big men (AD, Gafford, and Lively). Anyway, leaving tonight’s game aside, should the Hornets be worried about Ball’s future with the side? Let’s find out.
This is a developing story!
