The 2024 season, which was moving like a fairytale for the Kansas City Chiefs, ended with a bummer. The most coveted 3-peat dreams crashed in the Super Bowl LIX finale. Well, the Chiefs had their ups and downs in terms of injuries, but what makes this team great is their players supporting each other in tough times. One of Patrick Mahomes’s injured key players displayed such grit.
He is none other than Rashee Rice. The WR, who faced an injury in 2024, sent a heartfelt message to his teammate and a key member of the Chiefs’ defense, Charles Omenihu. Omenihu is all set to become a free agent in March 2025, with Super Bowl LIX perhaps being his final game with the Chiefs.
Omenihu received a signed jersey No. 4 from Rashee Rice, to which he replied keenly on his Instagram story with, “My brother you one of them fasho!!!” The jersey had a signed message from Rice, “This shit rocked Twin 4L. Appreciate everything. Nothing but pure love brudda! More bags and more blessings. Exclusive: Charles Paradise.” The special message reflecting their close bonding indeed melted fans’ hearts.
Amid this, Rice has hinted at a major comeback while sending a birthday message to team owner Clark Hunt. He remarked, ‘I have a special gift coming in February.’ His return will strengthen the team’s offense, as he will be paired with Xavier Worthy. However, on the other hand, Omenihu’s future remains uncertain as he approaches free agency.

Even though Charles Omenihu’s tenure with the Chiefs is ending, he holds his teammates in high regard. On February 20, he appeared on the Up & Adams podcast, where he warned the NFL about what’s coming next. When Kay Adams asked how Mahomes responded to the Super Bowl loss, Omenihu remarked, “On a revenge tour.” He then revealed Mahomes’s mindset for the next season, stating, “Just extreme focus. Taking even more control.” That seems like a fair warning to the rival teams.
Omenihu was vocal about his teammates. He opined on Travis Kelce‘s retirement rumors as well, stating, “Big dawg, like, we, the whole organization, can’t go out like that.” Kelce remains non-committal about his future. At 35 years old, he has competed in 13 NFL seasons with enthusiasm. As rumors continue to swirl, Jason Kelce has acknowledged feeling ready for retirement.
Jason Kelce talks about Travis’s retirement rumors
During the Sunday episode of The Steam Room podcast, Jason Kelce took to discuss his brother’s future with Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley. He said, “I think Travis— I think he probably, in his heart, already knows what he wants to do,” expressing his thoughts on the retirement rumors.

He also pointed out how they have different approaches to decision-making. Jason had deeply deliberated on his retirement, stepping away after playing 14 seasons in 2023. However, he believes that Travis follows his gut instinct. “My brother has this way of being like, ‘Hey man, you want to play or you don’t want to play.‘” He definitely understands his brother better.
Well, if Travis plays one more season, he will match Jason in both career length (16 seasons) and age (36). That will indeed be a huge milestone. Indeed, Mahomes will need him for the upcoming season, which we can expect to be an emotional rollercoaster after the SB LIX heartbreak.
