However, the time has come for Andre Iguodala’s ‘knighting.’ Yes, it’s time for that jersey No. 9 to go up on the rafters at Chase Center. Thus solidifying Iggy’s name as a Dubs legend.
Right after the game on Feb. 23, the Warriors will honor the 41-year-old former star, with Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Captain Klay in attendance. What a perfect day for the Splash Bros to reunite, right? But, you know what’s more interesting? Klay didn’t know they’d be in the Bay Area on the night of the jersey retirement. However, the 35-year-old shooting guard is looking forward to celebrating his former teammate. Just like Iguodala supported him on his first game vs. the Warriors in November 2024.
Thus speaking with The Dallas Morning News, Klay Thompson said: “That would be cool to see. Andre deserves it and he’s obviously one of the best players in franchise history for the Dubs [Warriors]. Without him, there would be no championships.” Thompson further added: “I learned so much from him, especially off the court. He started the trend of us being able to acquire talent in the offseason. He kind of broke the ice with that; he took a big gamble in coming to join us.”
