Shakur Stevenson was at his conservative best against the last-minute replacement, Josh Padley on ‘The Last Crescendo’ supercard. The Newark native successfully defended his WBC lightweight title via a 9th-round knockout victory. However, no one could say that it was a dominating performance.
Stevenson took his sweet time to get into the groove before showing his far superior skills in the later rounds. However, this decision by the 23-0 fighter left everyone quite bored, which was at times visible by the occasional booing he received, despite winning the fight. However, it looked like not only fans, but even Gervonta Davis was quite bored with the fight as he ripped apart the Newark native with his one-word reaction.
Gervonta Davis’ brutal knockdown
During the Stevenson vs. Padley fight, Gervonta Davis took to his ‘X’ and basically mocked Sugar. He didn’t even wait for the fight to conclude and wrote, “Lol,” putting the quality displayed by Stevenson in question. However, considering Padley had only four days to prepare, it was definitely quite surprising that the WBC lightweight champion let the fight go nine rounds until bringing him down. The tweet by Tank has increased the tension between him and Stevenson as the pair have been exchanging verbal blows for the past few weeks now.
Lol
