Ayan Broomfield might be fierce by nature, but there’s something that still sends her running! Last December she caught everyone off guard by revealing her biggest fear, raccoons. It was a cold night when she spotted them, lurking near the road. Panicked by the situation, Broomfield shared the ordeal with her followers, wondering how people found them cute. While she wished for some sympathy, her boyfriend Frances Tiafoe saw it as a perfect opportunity to pull her leg, as he shared Broomfield’s encounter with raccoons in a recent interview.

The ATP No. 18 started his season with the Brisbane International but exited the tournament after a loss against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the R16 by 4-6 and 6(4)- 7(7). The 27-year-old faced a similar fate at the AO as Fábián Marozsán sent her packing, beating him in a grueling five-setter by 6(3)-7(7), 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, and 6-1. The Dallas Open was not much different for the BigFoe. Even though he made it to the R16, he eventually fell short to Yoshihito Nishioka, losing by 6-3, 4-6, and 3-6. Following three consecutive setbacks, Tiafoe is looking to bounce back and is working hard behind the scenes. But amid all that, he always has time to tease his girlfriend. And why not? These cheeky banters keep their relationship going.

Narrating Broomfield’s encounter with the raccoons, Tiafoe revealed, “Like they one time they raised up on Ayan like bro, I’m telling you she was she was doing some work outside and it’s  like one o’clock and she like raccoons like…..”  The ATP star’s hilarious story propelled the interviewer to comment on how Raccoons are nocturnal and it’s rare for them to roam around during the day. Tiafoe agreed, but he said it was one of those rare occasions where Broomfield across them during the day time itself. “Bro you act like like it doesn’t happen once in a bluemoon. Yeah, it was a rare moment,” Tiafoe told the interviewer. Later Broomfield herself shared it on her IG story with an adorable caption: “Frances narrating my mid-day encounter with a raccoon is top tier.”

While Frances Tiafoe‘s revelation added a funny undertone to the story, Broomfield’s fear of raccoons is real. Last December when she witnessed the herd near her residential area, she clicked a photo and dropped a question for her followers, one that subtly hinted at her feelings. “PSA NOT ALL ANIMALS ARE PETS. I have the worst fear of raccoons.. the worst. And this person was literally sat there FEEDING them close to where I live! Why would you be encouraging them to come omg it’s so upsetting I know some of you think they’re cute but this is too much I cannot deal with,”  she wrote in her IG story.

Despite her fear of raccoons, Broomfield laughed at Tiafoe’s narration hinting at the dynamic of their relationship, which makes it easier for them to embrace each other’s fears. Remember their funny banter that involved a cozy golf session recently?

Frances Tifoe and Ayan Broomfield roasted each other’s golfing skills

Two days back, Broomfield and Tiafoe attended a golf session together and the latter shared a reel on her IG story, featuring her ride on a golf cart. The power couple later tried a few shots and shared the clips with a caption: “So, we suck … but a Sunday afternoon well spent .”  Broomfield’s post brought a hilarious reaction from her beau, who believed Broomfield intentionally clicked only his bad shots and shared them on social media. “Why you lying to the world and only posting my bad shots im him at golf @ayan.broomfield,” Tiafoe commented. His words echoed his embarrassment after his poor shot selection.

Tiafioe and Broomfield’s banter showcases the strength of their relationship. They met through a mutual friend, early in their careers in 2015 and eventually fell in love. Reflecting on their journey, Broomfield previously said, “We both played junior tennis at a very high level. I’m from Canada, so I was playing for my country, Frances was playing for the States. And then one of our mutual friends was like, ‘Well, you guys actually would be really good friends.’ So we started talking then and became best friends for a bit. It’s been eight, nine years now. It’s been a journey.”

Although Tiafoe has suffered three back-to-back early exits this season, Ayan Broomfield’s steadfast support can surely keep him motivated for the upcoming tournaments. Do you think BigFoe will be able to turn the tables moving forward in the season?
