“She has battled her way back to the very top of the world rankings after an awful time of injury. Is this the fairy tale finish for her, in the rain of Rio on an atmospheric night?” This was not only the question of the commentator but of every track fan glued to the TV to watch their favorite hurdler, Dalilah Muhammad. What happened next is pretty much known to the whole world. She ran, and she ran like the wind. Starting from 6th, she finished with the green strap going on her neck and gold against her heart. She was the first American woman to have that privilege for 400mH, clocking a 53.13.

The last time we saw her cruising through the 400-mH was in the 2024 US Olympia Trials. She passed through the initial rounds but secured sixth place with a time of 54.27 seconds in the final. She did not qualify for Paris. The good news came a long time back that we would see her cruise through the hurdles again in the Grand Slam Track. But there’s also bad news. The 2024 trials were here last. She did let it be known then. Now we know when her last ever race will be.

Russell Clayton, Dalilah, and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone were present at the GST press conference. The host reminded the 2016 Olympian of her 2007 World Youth Championship performance, where she clinched gold in the 400mH with a time of 57.25 seconds. Nearly 20 years later, she still has the power in her legs. Following that, the host asked how many more seasons we can see her. Dalilah replied, “I’m thinking to the next one, to the next one.” Now, don’t get your hopes up because this might break your heart. She was only kidding with that answer as he said, “I’m Just kidding” and then she broke it. “It’s gonna be it for me this year,” she said in the press conference.

I definitely gonna think this will be it.” She continued. She said how she hasn’t made an announcement or made it official yet, citing, “I haven’t made an announcement or public, you know. But yeah, I think I am won and done.” To confirm, the host did ask her once again if this could be the last season for her as a track and field athlete, to which she replied yes. Be ready, folks, when the last slam of 2025 takes place; Dalilah might be jumping her last hurdle.
The story is developing…
