$22M Chargers Star Makes New Career Move With NHL Stars as Jim Harbaugh’s Student Switches Roles

Alright, so here we have a crossover event that you probably didn’t expect. Picture this: An NFL kicker bringing NHL stars to the gridiron. Yeah, you heard that right. Hockey players who are known for their slapshots and slick skating prowess suddenly taking up football. To be honest, don’t you find it hilarious picturing hockey guys trying to nail a field goal? Well, whatever you have probably imagined, the Chargers actually made it a reality. How? By calling upon their Dicker the Kicker and two NHL pros for their latest upload on YouTube. So, what’s this all about?

Well, Cameron Dicker was captured acting as a kicking consultant for NHL pros Mason McTavish and Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks. Just to give you a brief intro on McTavish and Zegras. Both of them play at center for the Ducks. And now they find themselves at the center of the gridiron without a hockey puck but instead a kicking ball. Kicking ball? Yep, that’s right. Some of you may not know, but there are two different footballs. One is a passing ball, and the other is a kicking ball.

But what’s the difference? As Dicker explained, “The difference between the two, so this (passing ball), if you can tell, it’s like not as tacky, and it’s a lot so like you want it more like a rugby ball kind of thing where you can actually smoke it.” So, after explaining the difference to McTavish and Zegras. Dicker positioned them for some warm-ups. Not before he was flabbergasted knowing Zegras is a lefty. Left-footed kickers are pretty rare in the NFL. The only notable examples are Morten Anderson and David Akers. But apparently, 63% of NHL players are lefty.

Moving on, Dicker gave them some tips on how to position their foot like a golf club. And guess what? His tips to McTavish and Zegras actually worked. Both of them nailed their field goal attempts on the first try. But the moment Dicker took them for an extra point attempt from 33 yards. Only Trevor was able to convert his chance. Then, on a 40-yard attempt, both of them missed. In the end, it was Trevor who took the dub after converting three of his chances from 5 rounds.

Now, shouldn’t you be wondering why the Chargers picked Ducks players to practice kicking with their kicker? Well, it’s probably because of his appearance at a Ducks game last year.

So, in 2023, Dicker was coming off a sensational year with the Chargers. Playing all 17 games, he went 31 of 33 on field goal attempts. His only two misses came from over 50 yards. You know what made Dicker’s 2023 season more special. He converted all 35 of his extra point attempts all season. But his kicks weren’t enough to secure the Chargers their playoff spot, as they finished 5-12. This meant Dicker got some free time early into the NFL offseason. And what did he do with the free time? Well, he chugged some beers at Honda Center.

Yep, that’s right. Dicker went viral on social media after the whole stadium witnessed him chugging beers shirtless during the Ducks vs Rangers game. However, him hyping up the crowd with his theatrics didn’t actually help the Ducks on the field. They ended up blowing a 2-0 lead and lost the game 5-2. But not before he got a shout-out from the Ducks official page on X: “Dicker the Kicker is in the building! cheers, Cameron.”

Seeing his good relationship with the Ducks, it might be the reason why the Chargers brought two Ducks players to the Bolts facility. And after seeing Cameron Dicker teach two NHL stars how to kick a ball. Who knows? Maybe we might see an NHL player nail a tricky field goal at a charity event elsewhere soon.
