Nathaniel Lowe can do pretty much everything on the baseball field, but his one fear came across him this spring training. And when asked about this, Lowe’s reaction does the talk.
During an interview with Foul Territory, the interviewer asked him if there was any pitcher that he felt put him on the back foot. “I mean, for Ferrer. Ferrer, I stood behind I didn’t want to get into the batter’s box, you know,” answered Nathaniel Lowe.
Well, rightly so.
Everybody should be scared of pitchers who can throw 98 mph sinker and can spry fastball at will. In the 2024 season, Jose Ferrer appeared in 31 games and had a 1-0 win-loss record. Over the 32 innings he pitched in total, he had 25 strikeouts with an ERA of just 3.38. He would have achieved even better numbers had he not gotten injured, which cost him a big portion of the season, and the team put him on the 60-day IL.

Jose Ferrer was seen in a minor league game making a rehab appearance. Ferrer did make his 2025 spring training appearance in 3 games where he had two strikeouts and an impressive WHIP of 0.33. If Ferrer can carry this form into the regular season and stays healthy, the Nationals might just have their next bullpen nightmare in the making.
